99 Silverado- adding transmission fluid

have a.99 Silverrado 1500 with a 4.3 V-6

 

Having trouble with adding transmission fluid, simply pours out the bottom as I'm filling from the top.

 

Any ideas?

Lie underneath the truck while someone else adds fluid to see where it comes out.

For anyone who stumbles across this thread looking for an answer.... always check the dipstick tube & gasket for starters and of course pan gasket and bolts

Yes, it could be that the dispstick tube got pulled out of the transmission. If that was the case then it would be loosing fluid as well while driving. 

 

Also there could be a rusted out hole on the tube down low if in the salt belt.
