Any thoughts what would cause the trailer brake warning to come on intermittently when not towing anything?  It is a 2018 2500.

I have a 2018 1500 and mine was one of the wheel speed sensors. When they installed the lift on my truck they routed the wires wrong for the front left sensor, so they rubbed up and caused them to short out intermittently as I drove around. Noticed it more if I would hit a pot hole or something similar in the road.

Have it scanned.  System will set codes.  Most likely its the switch in the dash, the control module, or the trailer plug in the bumper.

Could be something else like a wheel speed sensor too but you'd see a service Stabilitrak message with that.

I thought that I had solved this problem about 6 months ago by replacing the module above the spare tire. What didn't make sense was the warning typically came on only during the rain. I installed a new battery and this problem along with about 5 other problems have thus far gone away. battery was 4 years old.
