Anybody know what gauge of the negative cable on a 2015 5.3L? I need to replace just the terminal on the end of the cable that bolts to the block. I can borrow a crimper and get a terminal. All i want to do is climb under there and change it. I’ll be damned if i pay GM $94 for a new one.

I just finished replacing the negative battery cable on my truck a couple days ago after replacing the positive cable a few weeks ago.  The negative cable appears to be a 4 gauge wire if you want to make your own.  I ended up getting mine off Ebay for around $60 shipped, I also didn't want to pay $100 for a cable from GM.  I found the positive cable on Amazon for $12 surprisingly enough.  Hopefully my random shut down is fixed now but time will tell I suppose.

You can also go bigger if you want, 2 or 0 gauge isn't going to hurt anything and may actually help.  Bigger is always better in the electronics world when it comes to power and ground.

So I was able to salvage my existing cable. I flattened the contact area and bent the lug back to the original 90° configuration. It reached to the spot on the block next to the starter (2015-18 location)with no issue other than unsnapping one of the clips. Coincidentally the clip lined up perfectly with a correct sized hole in the chassis. I did a voltage drop test from the battery to the braided jumper on the driver’s side bulkhead and the positive battery cable. Both were well under 1 volt. I just put a nut, lock and flatwasher in the old  location to hold the dip stick tube on.
