I purchased the Range device, I just need my truck..

After an exhausting search, I take delivery of my 6.2 LTZ today.

I plan to plug this device in the moment I get in the truck.

I hope I have the same experience as others here.

I'll report back..

Rich

Make sure the auto stop/start is disabled and does t engage and watch the tach (jumping around) These are the symptoms of it not working

That helps.

Thanks Ryan....

To answer your original question, the light stays on because technically auto stop/start is still active. However, it will never engage because the range device tricks the ECM into thinking that there is a load on the engine.

Thanks for the info!

I’m running the current version on my 6.2/10speed and have been for some time. They work on some of the trucks. I bought directly from Range and said if it didn’t work I could return or hold for an Update once available.

So wait.... I didn't realize the unit did both the Auto Stop and the DFM disable. Or is there a special one you ordered?

This is the one I bought....

The RA003 disables DFM and auto stop/start. The one you bought only does the auto stop/start AFAIK.

Gotcha... I didn’t really want to have the DFM disabled. Thanks for the info!

Good read, I'm installing my bypass this week.  Yes it takes a second to hit the switch, but why should I have to on a feature I hate anyway.  If I forget and it shuts off it chugs back to start and I feel like I'm driving an old jalopy!!!

Its a stupid feel good feature that in the end will do very little to save emissions and gas.

I bought a V8.....I want it to act like it!!!

My wife messes with the heat or ac and the radio before I’m even situated to pull out of the driveway. Maybe I’ll have her turn off the auto stop too.

Installed this yesterday.... Seems like it works. I haven't noticed my truck shutting off at lights anymore, which is the intended purpose. That said, I would think the the Auto Stop indicator light / button would go out if the system was disabled? I noticed it is still lit and I can still press it and turn it off manually.

Just curious, can I still enable the Auto Stop feature by pressing the button and turning it off then back on? Or does it do nothing regardless and I have to remove the dongle to re-enable the Auto Stop feature?

The whole Auto Stop thing has driven me crazy for the entire 4 days I've owned the truck, but I could see myself using it if I were to be in bumper to bumper traffic on the highway or something. I haven't really had time to mess with it yet. I only have a 2 mile commute to work.

So what happens when you try it?  That would be the only way you would find out.  I've never tried it on mine; but yes the switch stays active so you can disable it if you wish.  My guess is it would do the same relative to reactivation.

I'm gonna mess with it this week and report back.

Hello Ryan,

Just to make sure I emailed Range before I plugged mine in and received the following message..

“Rich,
We unfortunately do not officially support these vehicles and do not recommend using our products in them. We unfortunately are not able to guarantee what your results may be with the unit and you potentially could have severe drivability issues with its use.
Range Technology Support“

I understand this is a generic response and one that a lawyer would write but I still intend to give it a go.
You’ve been running yours for awhile now, still having the same success.

Yea no issues.  I spoke to them over the phone and via email/FB messenger a few times.  Wierd I never got that response.  Guess they are tired of people asking?

I got mine from "autostopeliminator.com" here:

https://www.autostopeliminator.com/collections/most-popular/products/2019-silverado-sierra-autostop-eliminator

SUPER easy to install for one person to do.  I have a 20 Silverado 1500 without the full center console.  Its literally removing three pieces of trim, 6 screws, popping off the center stack, and installing the bypass wire harness.

Took me 30 min, would have been less if I could have gotten the single 7mm bolt out quicker.  Its LONG .....I finally backed it out with my drill faster lol.

Works perfect.  I shut it off and it remembers my setting with each engine start.  I can turn it back on any time I want, and again, it remembers your setting.

A lot of comments I've seen say "just shut the switch off" or " why do you care if your engine stops".   My take is that I bought a truck to run.  I don't want it chugging to a stop and then chugging to a start.  Passengers I've had were like, "did we just stall out"?

I HATE having to remember to turn the switch off with each engine start and cursing to myself everything im at a light or stop and have to remember to hit the switch.

To me, the $88 was plenty worth it.

I installed my Range 003 yesterday on my 6.2L 10 speed.  I purchased directly from Range.  So far it appears to be working as advertised.  Start stop and DFM are both disabled.  This morning I did notice and "slight" RPM bounce going about 40 with very light throttle.  It was only about 200 RPM and who knows.... it may have done it without the disabler.  I will keep an eye on it.
