I have a 2020 GMC Sierra SLT. One of the factory options is adding the bed view camera for $250. Since mine did not come with this, I wondered if it would be possible to add it? Being that it’s only a $250 factory option, I figured it can’t that difficult to do. Has anyone done this or have any knowledge of this?

Iceman, if you happen to find an answer to adding the bed view camera, please let us know, I too am wanting to attempt to get this installed.

I want an answer to this as well.  I would like to add it to my AT4 to aid in 5th wheel hookup.  Not interested in the mirror.  Just the bed view camera.

That’s not true, at all. I was looking at two identical trucks. One had the extra bed view camera, one didn’t. The difference in price was $250

I priced up a Sierra SLT on the GMC build and price site and to add the bed camera I had to first have the Driver alert package, convenience package, premium packages to add that $250 camera.

Yes, but all of that is included in the Premium Plus package, which I have.

I would have thought it would be a simple plug and play. I haven’t removed the lamp assembly and looked, but I figured that there’s already a wiring harness there. I couldn’t see it being anything difficult since it’s only a $250 factory option. Cheap options usually mean fast and easy. If it was $1,000 option, I’d believe there was much more to it than just a simple harness plug in.
I guess I will call GMC and see what info I can find out.

Did you ever call or find out anything from the dealer?

Sorry to bring this post back the from grave but interested to know if anyone has done this yet? I just ordered the parts to at least do the live view rear view mirror (DRZ) upgrade. Would be nice to get the bed camera working as well.

Camera review mirror and the bedview camera are separate cameras.

So if you want both you need the assembly with TWO cameras

Hate to highjack, but I'm watching closely as well, but I'm looking to add the front camera to a 2023.  I'm thinking whatever gets resolved here just might work for a front camera too?

thanks but I sold it about a year ago. Only 23,000 miles and had lifter and transmission issues. GM admitted the lifters were bad but said they wouldn’t replace engine until the engine failed. I guess they thought that was quality customer service and thought I would enjoy to continue to stare at a check engine light. This was my first and last GM vehicle.

    • Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
    • I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.

    • Checked the pads today and there's plenty of meat on them. If the message keeps coming up, I'll just answer YES that the pads were replaced and wait for the squeal.
