I recently put a deposit on a 2021 Diesel Denali and when checking today they said it's set to be built this week. If that's the case, is it realistic to think it would come by the end of the month to Arkansas? This isn't my daily driver, and I have negotiated a specific trade in if I keep the truck under 1,500 miles before delivery. I'm trying to get an idea of how conservative I need to be with the truck and if it's likely to see it in the next month, two months?

Not a Denali or a diesel but I ordered my SLE gasser August 31st and it showed up Nov 4th.  8 to 10 weeks seems to be the timeline I have seen most online.

My dealer said about 8 weeks and I ordered mine near the end of october.  A different beast though,  I ordered a chevy 3500 wt with the duramax.

I got a call from my dealer today that my 2021 came in this morning.  This was quite a shock as it was built last Thursday (11/5) and I expected it to be at least another week before it got here.  They seem anxious to get my 2020 to put on their used lot as used truck sales are hot right now.

What state are you in?

I am not sure how long they had the truck in order prior to my deposit, I just know it’s being built this week. I’m in Arkansas, and I wasn’t sure how long trucks generally sit around before shipping? Do they come by truck, or train? I remember years back my 1/2 ton came on train from Mexico and got stuck in a yard for weeks and weeks, but these trucks are still made in Michigan, aren’t they?

I am in Western New York and Flint is 4-5 hours away if you cut across Canada.  My salesman was thinking at least another week and even as much as 3 weeks because of recent shipping delays.  He called me 30 minutes before it came in to see if I wanted him to call and have the truck rushed in and I told him no.  His records showed it loaded on a carrier trailer but still waiting to be picked up.  I work for GM and had checked its status earlier in the morning and pretty much had similar info as to what he was saying.

You have better chances of picking winning lottery numbers than to know for sure when your car will ship. When you combine the QC issues with geographical delivery of cars (at the lowest possible cost so they need to aggregate deliveries - and they don't not use a first in first out methodology), this can be the most frustrating part of the whole SRE journey. There is no transparency to actual data. There is just generic codes and sometimes the whisper from "someone in the know". Your car may ship quickly, it may not. It will likely take longer the more rural you are and the lower the volume of cars your dealer sells.

Yeah, no one will know factually. Just wait. It'll eventually get to you. It's in their best interest to get you the truck. Good luck! I'm ordering mine this week hopefully! Was trying to buy one this year to write off, but NO ONE has the truck I want.
