Over the weekend I finally got around to installing my S&B cold air intake on my 2017 Silverado 5.3.  Since I finished it up late last night I never took it for a drive.  This morning I tried to start my truck with the remote start and it didn't work (I'm guessing due to the check engine light being on).  When I started my truck the engine light was on.  I do remember installing the air flow sensor in the same direction.  Anyone have any ideas as to why the light would be on?

Ok, I disconnected the negative battery lead and let the computer clear any learned programming.  I then let the truck run for 15 minutes to learn the new CAI.  The light is off for now.  I'll keep you posted if it goes back on.

I installed an S&B setup on my F250 6.7L. It said to keep the battery disconnected for at least 2 hours or you can get a check engine light. To play it safe I waited about 3 hours. Never had an issue.

I put a S&B on my uncle's 5.3, no issues. Ill be ordering one for my 6.2 when they get back in stock.

Ran into the same issue on mine, although I think it was my fault. I cleaned the MAF before reinstalling it but don't think I gave it enough time to dry so I ended up having to replace it. After that though, everything was fine and ran smooth.

I installed the kit today, did the battery disconnect as they stated. Not quite sure it was a full 2 hours, but I reconnected everything after I finished and started it up. It ran fine and after a few minutes stated idling 1423889E-3682-43AC-9611-BCCE3B15013D.thumb.jpeg.db7755a880b09419e0d2c92bd914681d.jpegerratically and threw a check engine light. The code was for the MAF. I disconnected the battery again and will wait 3 hours and try again. If that doesn’t work, I’ll replace the sensor. I guess those things are delicate, but I was careful with it. Also tightened up all the clamps just in case it’s a intake leak past the sensor.

either forgot to reconnect the maf sensor or you also might have air leaking past the maf too

I also recommend removing the hoses going into the CAI tube into the throttle body, plug em up, and run uni filters for the valve covers, since thats also unmetered air

Years ago I bent one of the MAF sensor pins when I reconnected the wiring harness to the terminal. Idle was terrible and my fans wouldn’t stop running. Might be something to check.
