Just bought this RST with the 6.2 three weeks ago and and only have 987 miles on it. Got home last night and noticed a strong smell of fuel when I hopped out of the truck, but didn’t really think that much of it. It was a cooler morning so I fired the truck up from inside to let it warm up and when I came out to get in the truck I smelled gas again. Hopped in the truck and started it up and gas light came on and showed 48 DTE. Backed out of the driveway and within 6 miles down the road the gas light came on and said LOW. Came to the next red light and went to hit the gas and the truck sputtered a lot and felt like it was running out of fuel to the engine. Luckily I was 1/4 miles from the Chevy dealership and pulled up to the enclosed service bay and they let me in and before I could put the truck in park the service manager told me to pull forward and out of the service area and get outside because the gas smell was so bad. They told me that they were swamped and it would be a couple days before they could even get the truck into the shop to look at it. They then proceeded to loan me a equinox and sent me on my way. Anybody else experienced this or have an idea of what it is?! Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.

I wouldn't accept an equinox as a loaner.  Minimum equal value and should be truck.  Service department might not have anything better for you but your salesmen should be able to take care of you.

When I had to leave my truck overnight my salesman gave me a 2500 LTZ loaded truck.

I haven't heard of anyone having that gas issue.  Hope they figure it out soon.

You're just lucky you even got a loaner.  And since when did it become sales job to put you in a loaner?  They sell vehicles, not loan them out.

GM is great about giving loaners but rarely an equivalent vehicle. Unless they think they can upsell you into it. Case in point, I brought my 16 in, and got a 19 loaner. I liked it so I bought one. The trick worked. Now I bring the 19 in and I’ve gotten a Malibu, a Terrain and an Encore so far. Nothing to sell me right now I guess.

My local dealer will put you in a good loaner "if you ask".  More than likely something comparable from the used lot.  If I don't ask it is some beater car that the service department has.

A good sales person will want to make sure their customers are happy.   I had an oil change and some other stuff looked at a couple weeks ago.  It was taking longer than expected.  My salesman came and found me.  Gave me a loaded Acadia to drive.  Yes it was used.  I didn't need a truck right then to go to lunch and to get my other stuff done around town.  If I had needed a truck he would have found one.

This wouldn't be the case with every dealership.

I really wouldn't give a damn what loaner they gave me. Just fix my truck.
