Hey guys, this is a question that I know is going to get a lot of people riled up because of the nature of it and how it’s not a “truck” thing to have. But my question is can you tow on stretched street tires? I have a 305/40 on a 22x14 and wanted to know if I could tow with it safely and wouldn’t have any problems? I know the factory set are 285/55 Goodyear street tires as well and don’t see why it would be a problem? But does anyone have better knowledge and can explain to me if this safe or stupid to do? Thanks guys.

Sure. You can basically tow with any tire you are running. The specifics are what is important, like weight, type of road and etc.

Hell no. Rubber band tires on those wide rims is a dumb idea.

I wouldn't be caught dead driving around on them in the first place, they probably stick out 6 inches from the wheel wells anyway. Gotta drive like your drunk just to not hit stuff.

Why not buy tires that fit? I got 24x14 an would NEVER have them install a tire that looked like that on my wheels ?

A 15.5 wouldn’t fit on a 3.5 level and wouldn’t be able to to turn on them. Not sure if you ever seen gm square fenders ?

Good thing it’s not your truck right? And if you need to drive any different with 14 wides you should rethink your life and get your license revoked

I drive a commercial vehicle most days with much wider wheels but they stay within the wheel wells because they have too.

You need proper tires and you need to contact the wheel manufacturer to see what they say about towing. I can almost bet that they do not load test those 22X14's like the OEM's do to take all the extra forces that towing adds.

Say a tire has a weight rating of 2,000lbs but now you have stretched that tire so the side walls are no longer straight up and down. You just took that weight rating and threw it out the window, probably cut it down by 50-70% because of it.
