40 might be the pressure they use for shipping.

As others said there will be several labels on the door post (the ones on the bottom, outside are easy to miss)

One of the labels has serial number specific tire pressure recommendations -- base on tires it was born with, at maximum load.

If you have the truck set-up in myGMC or myChev, the app will also show the recommended tire pressure.

My tires were also over inflated. Had to let 5 psi out of each tire to get to the door recommend psi of 35.

Just thought of something else, is the built in 400w 120v inverter safe to use with computer equipment?

400 watts is 400 watts, you can plug in anything that doesn't consume more than that. A laptop would be more than OK. A full desktop setup with monitor (why??), nope.

Thanks, good to know, I'll have to adjust mine.

Tire pressure recommendations are 'cold' pressures.

They will be higher after the truck has been driven.

When the 'cold pressure recommendations' were established, it was in anticipation of the increase due to drigning.

Hi, I just picked up my first new truck, a 21 2.7l Silverado custom crew cab.  So far I've been impressed by the little motor, it seems pretty efficient and for non towing duties it's just about perfect.

  • What is the proper tire pressure, it was set to 40 from the dealer.

Driver's door jamb.  Look for the white/red/yellow label.  It will show you the proper cold PSI for your truck.

  • I need the 12v outlet in the cab to turn off with the ignition so I can run a dash cam.  Any hacks to get this to work?  I was told it stays on full time which eliminates the use of a dash cam.

No idea LOL but you could always do an OBD powered camera like a Thinkware.

  • Does it come with wireless android auto/apple car play?  I have the lower end screen (7"?) if that matters.

No.

  • Can I add a factory brake controller, the truck has the wiring and receiver for towing but it didn't have the brake controller built it.

No.

Congrats on the truck.  That 2.7 is a torquey little monster.

I'm not actually concerned about the output, more the frequency.  It's probably safe to assume it's ok to use computer equipment but if it's the wrong type of inverter it can fry sensitive equipment.  With a proper computer safe inverter it will always output power at 60Hz, with the wrong type of inverter the output frequency will vary (that's why you can change the speed of a blender running on a gas generator by varying the RPMs of the generator).  So I guess my question is does the built in outlet output a stable frequency.

I do have some questions about it though:

  • Is there a catch can for the 2.7l, where do I buy it, and are there online installation directions.

  • Any good mesh nets that I can use under the rear seats (crew cab) for storage?  I need something portable so the large plastic trays probably won't work.

Loving the truck so far, I'm going to daily drive it for a while to see what kind of mileage I can squeeze out of it.

I used a fuse tap into the heated steering wheel fuse for the dash cam, was super simple.

Gracias, I was finally able to drive it for a second time yesterday and I just can't get over how small that little engine is for what it's doing.  It won't win races but in a full size truck you'd never know it was a 4cylinder just by the way it drives.

I think there is a fuse I can move over a position on the passenger side of the vehicle that will do the same thing, I'm going to give it a try this afternoon.

Catch can, has anyone installed one on this engine and where do I purchase one?  I can get a cheap one off of ebay but I have no idea which lines to tap into.

Thanks!
