2017 Rust concerns

I just sold my 2009 Silverado that was rusted out around the rear wheels, and now that I have a 2017 Silverado I'm wondering if I may face the same rust issues ?

When you wash it, use your fingers to get any and all debris off the wheel well lip. This alone will do wonders for preventing rust in those areas.

Add the factory inside fender liners too so the wheel well doesn't get sandblasted. I take mine down one a year to clean up there and spray fluid film.

The rust starts from the inside out.

Pull the wheel liners and taillights to hose everything down each spring.  
while you’re at it you can pull the plugs out of the wheel well and douche it down with fluid film or similar. Do the same to the rockers too.
