Hey All,

Just purchased a 6.2 and am looking for the best exhaust option.  I have never put any money into an exhaust before and I have read through numerous posts with tons of differing opinions and got a bit lost/confused.  I am not looking for anything crazy that will piss off the wife or neighbors, but just something to make it sound a little more beefy.  I'm sure the best options will be the most expensive, so I guess I am looking for "cheaper" initial options prior to putting more money into the vehicle at a later date.

So I guess the feedback I am looking for is:

Best Bang for the Buck (Under $200) -

Best Moderate Investment ($200 - $1000) -

Best Option ($1000+ presumably) -

Hoping for a consensus 🤞😂

Thanks in advance!

Definitely no consensus on anything here. Buy once cry once is my opinion. GM Performance or Borla cat back. 304 stainless, will last the life of the truck and no drone.

Plenty are happy spending a few bucks on a muffler delete instead but I hate drone and hate rust so that was never an option for me.

I agree. I did a muffler swap on mine and it is cheap and sounds good, but I do have some drone. I plan on replacing it with the Borla touring cat back.

Have a local shop cut the muffler out and replace it with a piece of pipe.  Sounds pretty good and can easily be undone.  Cost me $150.

Save up your money and buy a whole Catback exhaust. The two most popular are Corsa and Borla. I have the Corsa and love it, others have the Borla and they love it, so you can’t go wrong with either one and they don’t have the annoying drone. 🍺🍺

I think your first, basically free option would be to lock your flappers(2) in the open position. Can be done with hose clamps.

Drone and DFM noises suck.

Well I picked up a new in box GM pp exhaust from FB marketplace yesterday for 700. I installed it this morning and I am very impressed to say the least.  Compared to the muffler swap I removed, this thing is amazing! The old system sounded good but had terrible drone and was unbearable.  This system sounds better and has zero and I mean zero drone, and is so quiet in the cab. My 14 year old son who wants everything straight piped agrees that is sounds so much better than muffler swap. Save up and spend the extra money and buy a quality system. Borla knows what their doing.

Thank you somebody who has some common sense!  The money is well worth it. I love my Corsa!  But agree you can’t go wrong with the Borla system either. Congrats on your find.  That’s a steal for $700

Can this be installed by a regular schmuck (me) with basic tools or should I have the dealer do it?  How long did it take you to complete the install?

Thanks,

Thanks,

You can do it easily in your garage or driveway with basic hand tools. You will have make one cut on the stock exhaust to get it out unless you have a lift. The system lines with the hangers perfectly and fits great.
