A few questions

Recommended Posts

I've been scrolling the forums for a while but to no avail.  I have a 2015 silverado LT, canada built but in the states now.  What have you all done for getting rid of the running lights always being on in drive? is there an aftermarket switch or something so i can just run parking or parking and fogs or no lights if I want? Saw one where a person modded the og light selector but id rather not do that.  Then lighting, are LT and LS headlights the same? im assuming they are but want to be 100% becuase lt is all chrome and ls has black options which my truck is all blacked out and want to match, the og headlights are starting to crack and want to replace but would like to avoid painting. Lastly, has anyone ran into what seems like a micro chipped windsheild? like it was driven behind a truck going down a dirt road its whole life and when the sun hits it right you can hardly see out of it.  Is there a way to "buff" the surface or just get it replaced?

Thank you all for your help and will continue to scroll in the meantime to find answers.

You'll need a dongle such as AutoSync with the BTDiesel modification functionality. It's tied to your VIN and requires extra to unlock your BCM and HMI. Then, you can make modifications to your heart's content.

i had a feeling i was going to need something along those lines, found one article on that last night but was hoping to be able to dodge around that. And with that ill be able to turn off the DRL and run just parking and fogs if i want? Looks like its handy to just have in general and should have been from the factory...

With the Autosync and BTDiesel BCM unlock, yes.

do you have the autosync mike, i see it is not available due to the chip shortage

Yes, I bought it a while ago.
I think I have a vid or two on my YT channel:

I noticed the shortage when I linked - to me, it'll be worth the wait, though.

Thanks, Jim, I'm gonna have to check that out for my 1990 BMW, in the right light, I can see the years of wiper motions on the windshield.
It's original, with the original dealer stickers in place regarding BMW part usage and engine break-in instructions. After 30 years, they still remain in place.

autogeek.net is my go to for anything related to paint and detailing.

I never had the balls to take a buffer to my paint until I started lurking the site.

After a lot of reading and asking questions,  I ordered a Porter Cable 7424xp polisher and a bunch of Lake Country 5.5" pads . Blackfire polishes and waxes. I transformed my lightly swirled out paint to look as good as its ever going to look. Actually I think it looks better than the day I drove it home from getting ceramic coating when the truck was new. My latest go to is P&S Dream Maker detail spray.

Makes your paint shine like no other

Got the autosync ordered, bit of a delay due to no one wanting to work. I think im just going to replace the windsheild and redo the brow.  if it was more of a rare windshield id look into correcting it, but the time id have into it i think would be more than just replacing it. im going to see if i can keep the old one to practice on for future possibly and maybe teach the kiddo while im at it. Thank you all for the help, next step is switching to led lighting.
