3179 miles on Amsoil OE. Added 7 ounches, first time I have had to ad oil since switching to Amsoil OE. 46672 miles on it. Switched to Amsoil OE at 30995 miles, bought used with 22595 miles.

Was using Castrol Edge before the switch to Amsoil OE and I was adding 7-8 ounces between oil changes. Will this usage continue?

Find out WHY but you might have to use Black02Silverado ISO CERTIFIED OIL ANALYSIS to find out.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

$45.72 per oil change. Amsoil OE oil, 5 quarts, Wix filter, not XP. FYI.

I seen it...Means nothing to me.   Its new oil with little to no miles.  New oil can seem better at start but how long it lasts is what important IMO.  Whats it like after 1,000, 2000, 3000, 5000 miles, what the the wear metals? They use a cheaper synthetic base stock, put in less additives or less costly additives because they are selling to a price point, not long lasting quality.

There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse, cannot make a little cheaper and the people who consider price only, are this man's lawful prey. John Ruskin 1819-1900

  • Valvoline is owned by Saudi Aramco
  • Castrol Limited is a British oil company
  • AMSOIL is American Owned Company
  • Royal Purple is owned Calumet, Inc. USA Company
  • Super Tech is blended by Warren Oil Company (and others depending on WM contract bidding).  They specialize in making products for private labels.

Same base oils (license) Same add pack more or less (License) Same viscosity (Requirement). Miles will not matter. Oil doesn't know what label in on that bottle or who owns the company.

That said if WHERE matters that much to you, then by all means, pay double and be happy. Ask AMSOIL if 100% of their feedstocks are drilled and refined in the USA. 😉

BTW, If everything on your property that was made outside the US in whole or in part or manufacture outside same removed from your presents....what would you have left? Even your GM....your Bell Peppers....your underwear. Just say'n.

That is about as political as I get. SCIENCE is my thing and it happens all over the Universe.

Shaver engines is marketing this new ring design and testing in a stroker SBC. Not exactly the most representative engine for us here. Bulk engine oil temps seem awful high.

What I noticed after ( that goofball with glasses that sounds like Kermit the Frog ) blathered about ring coatings being tracked by titanium in oil analysis we never see the results. That would be more informative than a total wear ppm.

Yes they mention silicon as a ring wear alloy  but not titanium. If it’s a broken in engine as they stated Si wear really makes no sense.
The API licensed oils aren’t designed for flat tappet engines.

Final observation is that OE 5w30 is $7.35 qt when purchased with my Amsoil preferred customer account in gallon bottles.

RP comment about dye is true now. In days past copper sulfonate colored green very high quality engine oils, RLI did,RLI racing oils might still, others included GULF racing oil and Kendall GT.

RP secret additive is magnesium sulfonate.
MOTDC is not the only trace of tin. Tim sulfonate might be more likely and lower cost.

As a matter of fact I think I broke the code on RESTORE AND PROTECT but that’s for another day.

So, your conclusion is his conclusion is wrong? OR, You just like making fun of Kermit. 😂

All he really said was all Group III oils of the same viscosity with the same add package blended to the same specification or license do the same job no matter who's label is on the bottle. Specifically ILSAC GF-6 for SAE 5W30.

If that ain't true, tell me and I'll buy an empty AMSOIL OE or Royal Purple bottle and pour some NAPA Gold into it before the next move to the motor. That's a magic bottle right there and worth the extra cash. SOLD!!!
