I was doing some maintenance on the rear diff today. The spare tire hoist seized, took out the grinder to remove it. I am in need of a new one.

The GM version is too much $$$ ($200) . What brand is everybody using as a replacement. I saw a Dorman ($150) on Amazon, it still seems too expensive.

Has anybody used this one?

I never really liked that mounting design. It just seems too easy for the cable to break or get seized up.

Here are some other options that you may want to consider:

I have found lots of brand new spare tires on the side of the road from them breaking, usually from the cable rusting. If you put a new 1 on give it a blast of chain and cable spray lube, then it should be good for the life of the truck

The company SKP sells one for around $90-100, don't know how much better it would be than the Dorman one that is $150.

SKP SK924510

Rockauto sells them.

Try rockauto.com, parts geek.com, get the GM part number and do a internet search. Try the junk yards. I replaced mine and I know I didn't pay $200.00 for it. Lesson here is to keep the hoist lubed with grease.

I replaced mine with another factory unit.  There is or was a guy on Ebay selling them refurbished.  The one I put on was from a 2004 and works like a champ.  I run it through its paces twice a year as preventive maintenance.
