FYI. Had the GM Card since 1993.
GM in their typical wisdom picked Marcus Goldman Sachs as the bank to replace Capital One which has administered the card since HSBC.

They had months to prepare for the changeover. They claimed you could continue to use the existing cards. Well the day arrived, all three of our cards were turned off. Tried to call Marcus GM over 20 times. 4-5 hour wait time. Went on for two weeks.  Still don’t have a working GM card.

Long story short, I’ve sent for a Capital One card. Bye bye GM.  Bye bye GM trucks. Too many problems. No service.

Beware of Marcus GM. Customer service is non existent.

Not impressed with Goldman Sachs' Marcus either. My old GM card still works, haven't received my new card yet. I always pay my credit card bills in a timely manner, I never carry a balance as I hate paying outrageous interest rates. I always got a thank you email from Capital One for payment, all I received from Goldman Sachs were semi-harassing emails reminding me that payment was due. They got their payment in time confirmed by the next months bill and the emails had stopped, but nary a thank you like I always received from Capital One.

I agree.  I was transitioned to Marcus by GS.  I noticed on my April 222 stmt. that some of my earnings were expiring.  there is a 7 year term limit on earnings but I used all my earnings in 7/2017 so all my earnings are less then 5 years old.  Call rep. tried to argue with me that they were older earnings. this is wrong .  Watch out for earnings expiring.

The customer service and technical support for this transition to Marcus has been terrible. Haven't been able to sign into my account since the transition. Have call customer support by the technical department never responds to correct the problem.  Obviously, the take over team is really understaffed or they have no clue how to correct the internet problems. Sending then a cancellation notice today by mail - maybe they will respond.

I have had my GM card since it was introduced many years ago and have used the 5% card earnings to purchase GM vehicles. Getting the 5% earnings is the only reason I have stayed with the GM card. No problems when the card was serviced by GM or Capital One. Since Marcus Goldman has taken over, there are many problems with my earnings that continue to be incorrect. Spoke on the phone to one of their reps and she couldn't explain why the earnings were wrong, Tried again today with online chat and received "canned" answers about how to pay my bill. Transferred to "specialist" who didn't respond at all and then ended the chat. GM needs to be aware of these problems or there will be more cancellations of the card and an overall negative feeling about GM and its vehicles.

I've had the GM Card since 1996 and when Capital One was servicing the card, I felt like I was with a company that was trustworthy and safe.  Not with Marcus!  Everything with this company just feels....janky.  They don't support text alerts.  My card randomly requires a PIN at some stores despite the fact I have never setup one.  I've tried to research why it requires a PIN but all the information in the Help pages points to pages that don't exist on the website.

I just don't feel like my financial information is safe with this company.  I hate to give up my earnings but something just doesn't add up with this company.  Seems they are more concerned with marketing their other account services than they are with making sure your accounts are safe and work.

I agree.  Marcus has been nothing but a total disaster for the GM Card.  Have been waiting on points and rewards for 3 months now..they set up multiple case files on this, but nothing ever happens.  It's been 90 days already.  So I just stopped using this fricking card and I will NEVER EVER AGAiN buy a GM car...Good riddance...never had a one problem with Capital One.  Not that I ever used this feature, but if you ever needed a cash advance, you could always get up to 25% of you credit limit..in my case, $3,750...but under Marcus, this is now only $600.  SO I called to find out if I was singled out as I have a credit score of 828.  No one could answer this question and no one was aware of this decrease.  They are totally clueless..I was on the phone over 45 minutes to get no answer...Pathetic...

I'm not happy with Marcus so far either. Been a member since 1995, it has been our primary card the whole time and we've cashed in nearly $13,000 in rewards towards new cars. Since getting the new card it doesn't work at some of our favorite gas stations at the pumps. I rely on this card, worrisome not knowing if it's going to work or not. Tried to resolve issues over the phone and it's at least a 30 minute waste of time every time. Marcus blows, miss Capital One.

Within a few days I just went on line and requested an new account with Capital One. My Marcus account is still completely screwed up. No confidence. The cards I eventually received went into the drawer.

I think I figured out the issue with paying at the pump. If the pump has the option of tap and go, use it instead of feeding the card into the reader.

Worst credit card service I’ve experienced. Website is worthless. Won’t be keeping this one. Capital One is light years beyond this.

I completely agree, but I like my Gm cash, and I'm certain I'll be buying another GM in 4 to 6 years, so giving up 2 to 3 grand is tough.

Been a while since I've signed in here.  Hope everyone is doing good.  In my search for Marcus GM card issues this topic populated so had to put in my 2 cents.

I've had the GM card since October of 1992 ... year it was introduced.  GM managed it through GMAC.  It was then awarded to HSBC which had it for about 10 years then, was awarded to Capitol One.  Life was great until they awarded to Goldman Sucks now the Marcus GM card.

I had a long standing excellent payment history and positive experiences with Capitol One.  Even during the transition between HSBC and Capitol One, it was seamless. Statements were always received on time, Capitol One had a grace period on the due date and allowed you to have a spare card in the event there was a problem with your card so you would have back up.  It was great.

Right off the bat with Marcus, not getting statements in a timely manner.  Getting charged fees and interest saying payment was late. I started taking mail to the post office, having them date stamped right there and taking a photo before the post office took it away.  Most of the specialist that handle the phone calls from customers at Marcus have no business representing any company talking to a customer on the phone.  Some have only been with Marcus for a couple of months.  It is the worst and has effected my credit score.

I have reached out to GM 4 different times.  There is no part of GM's organization that can assist.  The rewards center people say, "We cannot do anything as the bank has the responsibility of managing the accounts, we just administer the rewards".  Telling them it's the GM card not the Marcus card and that Marcus does not sell vehicles, saying they are going to loose me as a customer after 30 years.  They don't care. There were 3-4 million accounts transitioned from Capitol One I believe.  Aggravated ... and cannot get any assistance from GM.

There are a lot of complaints on the BBB website.

I just transfered to the Marcus card, I can't get an answer on the frickin pin number deal that has to be used at a gas station.

This is pissing me off.

    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
