In both the USA and Mexico.   1st digit of VIN = 1 USA Made;  1st digit of VIN = 3 Mexico

 

RAM is also built in Mexico.

GM assembles 1500's in Ft Wayne and Silao.

Oshawa assembles some chev 1500's

 

Flint assembles GM 2500/3500.

Oshawa assembles some chev HD's

 

Ram build 1500's in Sterling Heights and builds 2500's in Saltillo

To add, 4 & 5 are also signifiers of U.S. assembly. All GM full-size trucks use 1, 2, or 3 as the first digit of their VIN though.

and the first 3 make up the WMI  - world manufacturer Identifier 

 

The first three digits of a vehicle’s VIN make up the World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI).

 - The first digit defines the country of origin or the final point of assembly of your vehicle.
 - The second digit indicates the manufacturer and the region where your vehicle was produced.
 - The third digit, when coupled with the first two digits, indicates your vehicle’s type or manufacturing division.
