De-pin connector

Recommended Posts

Ham fisted trying to get the trans filter o-ring out and broke this connector on my son’s 2014. I’m trying to de-pin it for a new connector but can’t figure out how to release the wire.
Can anyone help me out?

Depinning is a dark art. gently feel around while tugging gently on the wire to release. Not much is holding the connector in there.

The connector is 89046635 and is more money than the whole internal mode switch is. Part number is 24258550.Replace the whole switch and be done with it.

MJM - I have the new switch but read that it has to be programmed. I don’t have the tool for that and the truck is sitting in my drive undriveable. I “thought” switching out the connector would be the quick option.

Just replacing the internal mode switch does not require any programming. The TCM needs to be reprogrammed when it is replaced which you are not doing.

Follow up for the folks here and in case someone needs it later. Despite what all the parts sellers say in the item description, the new shod shaft position switch does not need to be programmed! I had to buy an E Star Plus socket to fit one of the two bolts holding it in and that’s it.

Thanks to everyone that chimed in and offers help.
