I heard today that Flint alone has produced around 23,000 trucks since the changeover.

That is a good looking truck and I really like the black. I considered ordering black but my wife Equinox is black and as picky as I am about keeping them clean I just couldnt torture myself with 2 black vehicles.

I get it.  Mine is black and the carwashes haven't really helped it much.  But I'm telling you one thing, it looks amazing from 6ft away.... just don't get too close...lol...

I can see it now. Parked in the Delta employee lot with the sign that says “reserved for employees with 2024 silverado HD’s with big fancy screens only”

I noticed that truck has the recovery hooks vertical. Most, including mine, are mounted horizontally. Why the difference? Horizontally seems like the better option honestly.

I noticed that too but have no idea as to why.

I just got word today that my 3500 was on constraint due to color and several option shortages. Apparently the tri coat red has been on limited availability but is currently not available to order. So my order sits still awaiting acceptance. Its not an issue because I am not in a hurry for it.

I heard over the weekend that there are still some serious issues with suppliers keeping up. They are still hampered by having to "build short" at times, Lots of overtime though.

Order was accepted today :) received the friendly email from GMC showing order placed status now the real wait begins.  Almost a month to the day between deposit at dealer and acceptance.

Maybe its just me (probably the case) and I'll probably change my mind once I get my new truck BUT is the interior really that much different other than a larger center screen?  Also, I know there was alot of controversy about the front end of the 2020's when they came out but it really has grown on me.  This is subjective I know but I'm not convinced the facelift on the 2024 looks better, just different, speaking specifically to the High Country front end.  This isn't a case of me trying to prop up the current model because that's what I have, my new 2024 should be arriving anyday now.

    • In addition to a cell or wifi connection, the infotainment needs to be enabled to download software updates. That's a toggle within the system settings.   But...if the truck was prevented from receiving updates in a past life, missing a bunch of updates may mean it won't go back and download all of those because they're not available or the system is too far out of date.   If a formal recall depends on a software update, the recall for that truck remains in an open status until it's applied. The dealer would need to apply the software update in that instance.   Most updates downloaded and applied via the infotainment aren't recalls/safety recalls, they're enhancements and usability fixes which aren't critical.
    • Recently I've been getting a message, "New Brake Pads Detected. Reset Brake Pad Life?", But I haven't had the pads replaced and the truck only has 28,000 miles. The Brake Pad Life shows Front 64% and Rear 79%. I select NO to resetting the brake pad life and the message goes away but comes back at the nest restart.   I stopped by the dealer and was told that it sounds like a software glitch that would require reprogramming. Even though I have the extended warranty, they tell me that reprogramming is not covered unless a module was actually bad and needed to be replaced. Simply reprogramming is not covered. So, they want $200.00 just to diagnose the problem. If it turns out no bad module, another charge on top of that to do the reprogramming. If the cause was an actual bad module, everything would be covered under the warranty.   Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Should this issue be covered under the warranty?   Thanks
    • NHT is diesel only, correct.     The GVWRs for NHT on 3/4 ton bring them to the same numbers as many of the 2WD 1 tons.  A crew 4x4 standard 3/4 with NHT is 11,750lbs, a 1 ton same cab/box/4x4 is 12,100lbs.     Hubs and hub bearings are the same for 11.5" and 12" axles.  Housing, diff carrier and ring/pinion are larger for the 12".   All gas use the 11.5" axle, 3/4, 1 ton and 1 ton DRW.
    • Yes, I connected it to my home wifi.
    • For most of you, this is probably outside your realm of interest, but, maybe you can appreciate it. The hood and wheels aren't something I'm interested in, but someone made a very rowdy Audi S4... amazing sound.       These were/are very fun cars for the money.   Not going to lie, I'm getting an itch to own a newer Audi RS3. The 5-cylinder will be changing, or going away, at the end of this year.
