any tricks or tips to replacing the brake pads on these new trucks?
my '22 has the same brake squeal that my '20 had that was not fixed with the "updated" pads. it appears this is still an issue on the '22.

instead of wasting my time at the dealer, i would rather just spend the $200 on Powerstops and fix them myself.

thanks

I've installed powerstop rotors and brake pads on several vehicles I've owned in the past.  They are amazing!  I'm surprised that you are getting noise from your pads.  I have a 22 as well and not a peep from them.  It took them darn near 2500 miles to bed in  for like a "normal" push on the brake pedal but now that they are they are amazing.

When I first bought my 2016 Charger SRT the front pads were the worst ever, aside from Mercedes front brake pads, for dusting up everything.  I mean they dusted so bad that I had to power wash everything.  So I installed the powerstop brake pads.  Problem solved.  They worked amazing and didn't throw off any dust at all.  Best pads ever!

I had the same issue and would lightly ride the brake safely on the highway while on the gas maintaining speed for about 30 seconds.

I had some squealing after heavy towing in my '21 and would heat em up every so often like I mentioned and the squealing would go away until my next tow 🤣

I agree about the bedding in. At first I felt like the truck took too much pressure to stop. Partly maybe I wasn’t used to it but I do feel it became much better after about 2k miles or so. Now it’s fantastic

Yup, around the 2k plus mark they start to work amazing.....

my truck has 9500 miles on it. the squeal is slow speeds, like in parking lots. sounds like a school bus.

this is a very common problem. GM has a TSB for replacement. I believe there have been 2 pad updates

Again I'm so surprised you are having this issue but if you do decide to go with the powerstops, I can promise you that you won't regret it a bit.  Please keep us updated on what you decide to do.  It may help others in the future.

My truck is still under bumper to bumper, dealer tried twice to fix the brake squeal issue following the bulletin and replacing pads.  They still squeal. The truck is a 2020 and only has a little over 20k miles on it, I plan to change mine eventually, they squeal but I just turn my music up.

My brakes on my '22 started squeeling this weekend. I have 12,200 miles on it. I hope it goes away.

What’s causing the squeal? Pads can’t be to wear indicators can they? 12-20k would be way too early I’d imagine even for heavy brake use.

I have the same issue that started at about 7500 miles on my '22. I plan to take it in this month along with some other issues (steering clunk again, with TSB in hand this time) and my sensor recall.

When I first got the truck the brakes felt unsafe and my leg was cramping when I was at a traffic signal or in a drive thru. I read somewhere you should put it in park, depress the brake all the way, then release it. I do this twice and the brakes feel much more responsive afterward without my shin cramping up. I do it occasionally if I feel like it needs it.

Supposedly the wrong pads were installed at the factory.  But, even after they replaced mine the squealing came back.  It is not the wear indicators causing the squealing.

To the op, I don't know if these brake pistons are like some other newer model Chevys I have done brakes on, but they may require a wind back type tool to press the pistons in.  I bought a sunex set for my Impala and am sure it will work for the truck.
