Rumble strip noise?

Coming from the front right, I occasionally hear what feels and sounds like I'm going over a rumble strip along the edge or middle of a two-lane. It's at various speeds, and seems more likely to happen on slight curves. I'm thinking wheel bearing, but would welcome any other ideas. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

That is most likely torque converter lockup starting to slip or fail during engagement.

It could also be a sign it is time to replace your transmission fluid especially if it is the older fluid before they made the change to the newer fluid.  The older fluid if I recall seems to absorb water and would cause the same symptoms. My 2018 I bought as a certified pre-owned had the older fluid. The dealer had never run it up to the transmissions operating temp and didn’t know it was having the problem. After I made them aware and raised a stink about it they had it flushed and the fluid replaced with the new fluid pretty quickly.  The problem went away. That was 2 years ago.

It is definitely worth a fluid change.  Caught early enough you can save it.  Just don't keep driving it that way.  If it comes back soon you can try an additive (Lube Guard 63010) to buy some more time.

That new fluid for the 8 speed transmission only. 6 speed takes the Dexron 6 fluid.

If the rumble is from the converter, I'm pretty sure it's too late for a fluid change to help. How many Miles on transmission

One year old transmission rebuild, stem to stern. I've had it back to that shop, who have a good reputation, and they deemed it fine. To me, the rumbling does not appear to be shift related.

 

It's frustrating because the noise only exhibits itself occasionally, and of course never with the mechanic in the truck! My guy is looking at the wheel bearings today, so maybe I will know more after that.

My guy ruled out wheel bearings...goes to show what I know!

 

He "re-learned" the transfer case and front axle lock up, and we're both hoping that solves the issue.

I've only driven it twice since, without no noise recurring, so my fingers are crossed.

there is a class action for the 8L90 transmissions.  below is the other thread I just replied to.  Sheehan in south fla wants $3500 L+M for a torque converter replacement.  no guarantee of resolution of steering column shudder or rumble vibrations.
