I have a 2023 Silverado 1500 and I noticed when I installed new rear shocks that lower shock mount wasn’t completely painted from the factory. Has anyone else encountered this with theirs? This is the only year truck I’ve owned that has been like this. I could be wrong, but won’t it start to rust there overtime especially those who live in snowy weather? I went to a dealership and looked at trucks on the lot and it was 50/50 with fully painted vs not. Chevy tried to tell that is normal. Has anyone run into problems with it rusting there?

I wonder if painted/unpainted depends on which plant assembled the truck or if it is related to some option which means the part come from a different vender or some other reason.

Certainly appears intentional.

Mine is like that also. Its likely theres no coating on that area so the torque measurements dont get thrown off by the paint or coating material. I shot them with some fluid film and all is good now.
