2019 Sierra 2500HD Crew Cab Denali Duramax

I have lane departure option, also noticed truck has hydroboost brakes/powersteering system.

Previous 1500 truck had lane departure option but electric assist brakes so no hydraulic power steering, and it had what GM calls "Lane Keep Assist" where if physically gives the steering wheel a lil twist in the correct direction when you start driving out of your lane.

Do the units with hydraulic power steering and hydroboost brakes still have the lane keep assist part?

Trying to determine if that is just not present because of the hydraulic power steering, or if mine just isnt working.

It is correctly identifying if its staying within the lines or crossing/about to cross, but I dont feel it trying to keep within the lanes like my last truck did.

No.  None of the HD trucks 15-19 have lane keep assist due to the fact they are recirculating ball steering.

thats disappointing.....if we could have gotten active cruise control, this truck could have basically driven itself haha

Oh well, guess its just more stuff to break anyways.

Thanks for info, glad to hear its not because something was broken already.

Same problem on the 2024 HDs.  They added adaptive cruise control but still can't do lane departure steering assist because of the steering setup.  99% of everything on the market with active steering control has a full blown electric power steering rack and pinion setup which allows for such control.

So perhaps there would be some hope on the next gen HD that they can do some sort of electric assist recirculating ball steering.

Without the lane keep assist part, the lane departure option seems like a pretty big waste of money haha

It has its uses for sure, maybe to help wake up people falling asleep and veering off the road, and then the obvious bonus of early braking alert, but to me the part keeping it in the lanes was what sold me on it.....oh well

Eh.  Lane keep just pogos you in the lane for about 20-30 seconds and then yells at you to grab the wheel so you aren't missing much.  It will not steer it or hold it straight in the lane.
