Under hood darkness solution….

Head lamp and flashlight in the center console.  Easier to get light exactly where I need it.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know when was the last year on the upper level trims they stopped providing the under hood lights?  I'm wondering if it was fairly recently, and the hoods are the same, and whether that lamp can be retrofitted?

i remember when my 96 silverado had the under hood light that could disconnected and be pulled all the way to the bed.

x2, thankfully someone said the easy button before me on this one

 

infinitely more versatile, these are gm 1500's, we don't need to spend much time under the hood, certainly not enough to do more than a headlamp in the glove box, which comes in way handier for gutting deer or looking elsewhere under vehicle etc.

Back then they were using mercury switches.  That's not allowed anymore.  Besides, vehicles are allegedly more reliable today, except for F150s lol.

Loop is magnetic and can be adjusted to direct light as desired. (yes, there is a lot of plastic and aluminum to avoid)

Comes with usb cable so it can be recharged (in the truck).

Could be used for underhood, roadside tire change, etc...

Never been a headlight user although I see the advantages…..

For under the hood I still prefer a light like this.

Never used a headlight either. Ever since  I tried one I realize that they are very useful to put light right where you need it.

Pickup trucks the last year they had one was 2002.  Yes, its been THAT long.
