Kind of dead in here....

I stole that saying of spreading hate and discontent from my dad.  He was state patrol in Maine.  Super liberal when it came to speeding, god love him....he rarely gave anyone a ticket for speeding...but he always said, you had better give your body and soul to Jesus if I ever find out you were drinking and driving.  That is the one thing he had no tolerance for and even to this day, I never drink and drive.  Back in the 70's and 80's state patrol had to cover all fatal accidents.  And unfortunately most all were due to alcohol.  Stay safe all and never drink and drive!!

Back in the mid late 70s everybody I knew had a few on a night out. Weddings were quite frequent as were open bars. Everyone I knew was getting married. I didn’t know anyone who had accidents related to drinking. During that time my wife claimed I was actually a more careful  driver when I had a few. Where I live in New Jersey the roads were narrow and speed limits were low. I never felt impaired. Once the awareness became known and the legal limit was lowered I wouldn’t even have one. Only at home. The new impairment is the mobile phone. You can’t see the road looking at the phone.

Cell phone use while driving is a massive problem. 9 out of 10 times when the light turns green, the lead car goes nowhere because their face is in a phone. Super annoying.

My son is a deputy sheriff in the Minneapolis area. Thinks the same way as your dad. Says "I refuse to give a speeding ticket to a law-abiding citizen". If your record is clean, you won't get a speeding ticket from him. A few years back when he was working night patrol, he got a magazine in January with an article about a LEO that had set the record the previous year for drunk driving arrests. His comment was "I can do that!". He made it his mission that year to go after drunk drivers. He didn't beat that guy's record, but he did have the most arrests in the county that year.

opinion, i think drinking and driving is worse now (more dangerous) cause there's more people on the road. so there is bound to be more collateral damage. i can remember my dad/mom telling stories about first time running there 65 chevy2 327 4spd car down an embankment and through a field, first thing was throw the bottle of jack daniels in the creek then walk 2mi to the neighbors farm and barter a case of beer to drag it out. my grandfather got a dwi in a semi  with a load of  dynamite. my other grandfather got a dwi after leaving the local vfw and hit a parked car, got caught cause he left a note on the car promising to have it fixed. but these days its already too easy to get killed/hurt out there, no point in making the odds worse.

Well as long as we’re completely off the GM truck topic and just trying to amuse Jettech, last week I took delivery of a new 4Runner. Similar color to my 3500hd.  I am trying to set an example for Jettech, who should be ordering his new 2024 truck about now.

The last of the tried and true simple reliable Toyotas. They will ruin it next year like they did the Tacoma and tundra.

Yikes. Minneapolis is a total S*** hole. I wouldn’t want to be a LEO there. They went whole hog on the defund crap and have insanely high crime. Just a complete toilet. I grew up in MN. I’d never live there now.

I guess I am in need of a little entertainment these days.  My sister inlaw passed away unexpectedly last Wed. morning.  Went to sleep and never woke up.  Not a bad way to go but damn that was a huge loss for everyone that knew her.  We ran up to Virginia Beach and helped my brother inlaw with everything.  My wife is still not right.  I've been to a lot of funerals but that was a rough one due to it being so sudden and unexpected.  Anyhow I'm not looking for condolences, but I guess I do need to be entertained a bit.  And no I'm not buying a new truck lol....nope, not happening unless you step up and buy me one.  If you can afford a new Yota then you can afford to buy me a new truck....lol..

Life is short and we never know when it will be over. Sorry for your guys’ loss.

My son in law just traded in his 15 4 running with 240K miles. He got a new Camry TRD. His step daughter has my 16 Camry.
