I have a 2015 Suburban LTZ. I noticed it doesn't have the active grille shutters and was wondering if anyone here has added them to one that didn't come with them. Is it just bolt on and plug in and turn on with tuning? Just trying to see what all is involved. I live in a colder climate and would like to have them to help it warm up quicker.

Id ask again in the Suburban/Tahoe side of the K2XX forum for someone who might know more about the suburbans. I would assume that it would be the same process as the trucks. You would definatly have to have it programmed into the BCM. Not sure on the wiring. Should bolt up pretty easy

Did you buy this suburban new or used. I would have assumed that it came with the active shutter from tge factory. If this is a used truck the PO may have removed it. If this be the case, it would throw a code if the ECU couldn't find it. Otherwise it would have been bypassed some way. Just my thoughts

I believe the suburbans were like the silverados where it was an option starting for MY2016

Intresting, our 17 suburban dosent have it, granted its a low end LT. The only truck we have thats higher than an LT is my SLT but its a 2015

I bought it used. I might have to just pull the grill and see if the plug is there for it. I can get the whole assembly for 160 bucks so not very expensive but when it's -30 and takes about 30 miles to warm up it should help a lot.

No.  Shutters came later in 2017 so 15 and 16 aren't wired for them.

They work on a LIN BUS circuit.  ECM has control, but they can't be controlled with a scan tool for testing, just data.  They do nothing but freeze, break and cause check engine lights.
