The carbon pro beds to me was the brain child of some ****** head that thought they had the next best idea since sliced bread, you see it from every company out there I swear. It costs more and doesn't make the truck any better, it's no wonder that they never catch on in the real world. All it was, was a marketing gimmick and for uber douche bags to rub their belly buttons while talking about their truck to their smug friends and anyone within ear shot that really didn't give a damn.

FWIW:  I am hearing the 1500's will introduce 2026 as 2027 models, the HD's a year later.  The actual platform may not be 100% new, it will be known as T1-2 which suggests it's related to the current T1XX truck.  Everything you see from the exterior and interior will likely be new however.  The trucks will feature the Gen. VI gasoline V-8 which is rumored to still be a pushrod LS derivative.  What diesel T1-2 gets is a bit murky right now however.  You may have heard of a rumored 8.3L Duramax being developed, some say it will be in the next generation HD's but some say it's a commercial medium duty truck engine.  Maybe it's both?

A little speculation on my part, Ford recently announced their Super Duty trucks will eventually be available in hybrid and BEV configurations and I would be willing to wager GM has similar plans for their HD trucks as well.

I wonder if GM will need to switch to aluminum bodies and maybe a slightly smaller size to reduce weight for upcoming emissions/fuel economy/GHG regulations?

And that raises more questions.  An 8.3L diesel is awfully big for a pickup truck, and it's even large for a medium duty.  Either the upcoming more stringent diesel emissions regulations are going to require a displacement increase to maintain the same H.P. and torque the current 6.6L Duramax makes and/or Chevy is planning larger commercial trucks.  Maybe a Silverado 7500?

Chevy currently offers a LCF 7500 with a 260 H.P./660 ft. lbs. 6.7L Cummins in it, GVW around 32,000#'s.  No powerhouse, but pretty typical for a class 6/7 city delivery truck.  A hypothetical 400 H.P./800 ft. lbs. 8.3L would do just fine

I sure hope there is a place for a regular cab short bed in their plans.

I love my '22 and '16.  I hope they continue to make them available in the states.

Here in the last year or so I have seen more and more people talking about them and buying them again....good sign!

No.............a "regular cab"  LONG BED................like pickups used to be!!!!

...they currently make regular cab long bed trucks.  GM and Ford in 1500 and HD, Ram in HD only.

I wonder if a de-tuned L5P (take it down to L5D spec or slightly above for long durability) and then hybridize it if that would work?  Could they stay L5P current output, sure, but at what point do they have to go for a tire construction change for tire life and weight capacity?  1000+ft.lbs of torque through a 275 wide E load tire, might be getting to the limits.

Magna is about to hit market soon (per their website) for 2025 with some eBeam or Etelligent axles.  And they appear to bolt right in without unique changes being made.  I see a lot of truck manufacturers potentially going this route.  I see Jeep doing this for the Wrangler and Gladiator for a BEV, and then I could see the 3 HD truck manufacturers going for a BEV HD or PHEV setup?

eBeam™- A Smart, Practical Solution for Electrifying Trucks (magna.com)

"An innovative yet practical solution, eBeam™ is based on traditional beam axle architecture but integrates an electric motor and gearbox into the center of the axle. The eBeam™ can be used with full battery-electric or hybrid vehicle powertrains and is available in several variations, including single or dual motors, integrated or remote inverters, front steerable, and offset banjo designs, supporting Class 1-6 trucks. The Magna technology does not require unique suspension, chassis or brake systems, while preserving towing and payload capacity.

Market debut of eBeam™ is expected in 2025."

With a regular cab, they currently make standard bed and long bed 1500's.

The standard bed is the (approx 6.6 ft) bed that was called short bed prior to the release of the short (5'8") 20 years ago.

For 1500 these are currently available.

Standard bed crew is only available with 4wd.

For 2500 double cab is available with long or standard.

Crew standard can be 2wd or 4wd

Short box crew not available.

Reg cab standard is not available

Its a shame they've limited the trims for the 1500 in the US though.  They brought the RCSB back for 2022.5 as it was gone since the 2018 model year in the US.  But, if you shop Middle East or Mexico, you can get RST and Trail boss RCSB, and with a V8.  RCSB in the US is WT and 2.7 Turbomax (which is a great little engine BTW) but no V8 option or higher trim.  Same with the RCLB, WT only but you can get the V8.

We'd always sell RCSBs and many of them in the LT or LT Z71 trim on the last generation.  They'd order a couple a year and every single one would sell shortly after hitting the ground.

Ford seems to be the only one capitalizing on RCSB with a V8 market but sadly they dropped the XLT option now.

Agree about the trim limitations.

They must have not been selling enough higher trim regular cabs,

It was certainly different prior to the crewcab short 1500's being released.

Hope to see performance updates to the 5.3L and 6.2L. Chevy is usually always "sufficient" in terms of power, and seems to be reliable, but can't keep up with Ford or RAM in power. Kudos to Ford for sticking with the V8 too. Can't say the same for RAM; may be faster and better mpg than the old 5.7 HEMI but I will take a V8 over a turbo V6 or V4 any day. Hopefully GM keeps the V8 and puts some R&D to compete better with Ford V8's.

I believe their main focus right now is to stay ahead of the next round of EPA regulations. The L8S 6.6 gas and the L6P 8.3 diesel will see those changes in the HD trucks. Its a mid cycle refresh for the HD trucks centered mostly on powertrain and electronics. From what I am told there will only be minor body changes similar to the changes between 2023 and 2024 models.

Another MCE?  To me that seems pointless?  2024 was the big MCE (GM Global B, 10 speed gas, new interiors and looks).  Unless they are planning to keep the T1 cab structure and change everything attached around it like sheetmetal, boxes, front clips, new interior again, etc.
