Dually Tire Question(s)

Had to put spare on outer rear. It has 100% tread, inner has ~50%. Is it ok to drive like this a few weeks until I can get the $ and reearch done to get new tires?

 

Has Michelin factory Primacy's. Thinking of going AT or maybe even K02's. Any experience with either of these?

My uncle never listened to me and always paired tires with different tread depths together and he blamed the tires when they constantly blew up.  We were running a hotshot up and down the coast back then, they didn't last more than a few days.

 

KO2s cost more to run in lowered gas mileage and they suck up screws like a magnet.  I had a set of them on two trucks and each tire picked up a road hazard that punctured the tread annually.  

 

5 years now with Defenders on two trucks with more mileage and no road hazards at all.  Got my gas mileage back too.

 

Run a highway tire, Defenders are tops man, the Florida sun is only gonna let any tire live for about 4 years anyway.

Defenders = Michelin? Which model?

You will be fine until you can replace them.  Never seen a spare match tread depth of the other tires unless you are doing a 5 tire rotation, not really a thing on a dually.

 

BFG is has the KO3s now, I am running Toyo ATIII's and tow 16K with them no issues.

Yes, Michelin Defenders.  Go to the Michelin website, plug in your truck and they'll show which ones are made for you to choose from.

Don't run KO's if you tow a lot, they are too soft of a tire.

 

Defender LTX or the Agilis tires are good for heavy loads. The BFG Commercial T/A is a good heavy duty tire as well.

I'll chime in ,first I have ran BFG AT and the KO2 on my last 4 trucks all Sierra HD 2500 and will put the KO3 on my new truck after I wear out the stock tires ,never picked up a nail or screw or got a flat and ca roads are the worst ,I have ripped the sidewalls while wheeling my jeep thru the rubicon always got 25-30k out of them  for some people that sounds like not many miles but they ok for me They are a E rated which used to mean they were ten ply not any more, with out looking they have a load range of 112/115 

fyi check any tire manufacture site , Michelin has a good one they will show you that on a dually  the pass  inner carry's the most weight , you'll be fine temporary but if you have any weight put the good tire on the inside
