Leftover new 2023 LTZ 2WD, good deal or potential problem child?

Recommended Posts

For what its worth all the 2024 1500s at my dealer are heavily discounted.  I rarely buy new and never trade in.  But I just bought a 24 LTZ for $13.500 off MSRP and got a great trade in price.

I once knew a fella that went by the mantra that the only thing 4WD gets you is further to walk out when you do get stuck. Somewhat true in DEEP snow I guess, but 4WD does certainly have it's place.

I suppose if you off road. If a pavement critter a True Trac some Blizzak's and an adult driver will take you anywhere a 4X4 will. Cheaper and easier to maintain; gets better milage..............

The sticker on the LTZ is 59095.00, asking price is 47.6k.

We don't get much snow here in Fort Wayne. I've used 4wd in my '18 LT probably a dozen times total in 6 years..

I'm old enough that if we do get that rare 8 inches in a day, that I'll stay home.

My biggest concern is, will the 14 months of sitting on the lot cause problems from possible rodentia etc...

My thought was to take it and have it put on a lift and look it over and under for anything like chewed or repaired harnesses etc.

If that passes, I'm thinking offering 42k...

The RST doesn't have all the safety options I'm looking for.

Thanks for all the input and discussions!

Dave

Sounds like a good deal Dave. Its still a new truck. LTZ is a higher trim level.

Dealers are motivated to move product because the economy is a disaster and is not going to improve anytime soon if ever. I would wait till the end of the year as i still think some places will be touching 20k off 2024 models with how bloated these hack auto manufactures back loaded msrp values over the last 5 years. All of these manufactures need to understand people are no longer going to pay anything even remotely close to their fake msrp numbers.

Only thing that surprised me.  The deep discounts did not apply to the 2500.

Just seemed they are trying to offload the 1500s.

Volume, look at any dealer lot and you will always see x10 more 1500's then 2500's and the same goes for 2500's vs 3500's.

Dont add factory leather to the RST get something quality. The leather in the LTZ and higher is so much better youll think the RST seats are plastic in comparison

Are you thinking the leather in the LTZ and High Country are better than RST leather?

Its my understanding they are exactly the same. They are all fake leather. I just switched from High Country to LTZ and they both had crappy leather interiors. Like most other vehicles.

I would not buy a 2WD truck, resale value in super low. At least in my area.

I`m going to order a 2025 2wd truck shortly.🙂

At 61 yrs old, I don`t know how we made it back in the day. 4wd trucks were prolly 10 to 30% of trucks, depending on location. Now, they are 95% or so.

Resale? Everyone loses on any vehicle. Maybe a classic car. Maybe.
