Yea. hmm ok thanks. Wish someone knew what all that gibberish meant it's useful information if you understand it lol.

Generally, who cares what it means unless you're actually a developer or something?

Just checked recalls through the app (myGMC) and I see the incomplete for the recall of N242435631. This is perfect timing cause now I can request a loaner vehicle and leave it for a day for it to get updated. Sigh. I hope this actually improves something. Lol

I checked my chevy phone app. It says everything up to date.. but my radio cuts out at random also. And my phone has a cracking sound thru speakers also when talking on Blu tooth.  It's a 2024 silverado LT 1500..

Based on a couple of posts in this thread, they may be 'slow-rolling' the recalls so as to not overwhelm the system. If you have random cutouts and the HVAC drops fan speed to low (while on AUTO) at the first radio cutout after starting the truck, then you need the update.

The crackling sound was reported by others online about a effect from the recall update being installed. The recall also has had people mention that the update causes voice prompts to be at a lower volume than normal so it's harder to hear.

It wouldn't be something from GM's developer teams if it wasn't for a botched update. They did lay off a bunch of software developers a while back as it is.

You know now that you say that I had an oil change a few weeks ago and they told me they did some radio update or something.  Wonder if this was what they did?

Wasn't that layoff predominantly due to the change in how much they were planning on building into the EV's? They were originally claiming they were completely dumping CarPlay and Android Auto and writing their own product but the initial code was garbage AND they had to acknowledge that EV's weren't selling like they (still) believe they will.

I think it was but who knows the full details. I know my father in law has a new trax and it only runs android auto with no built in apps like my Silverado so it's definitely coming.

If your signature is right then yours is not affected. You have a 2015 so it's not the same platform at all.

If you have a newer edition then you can check for the update by going into the settings>updates screen and see what it shows for android version. If it's at 10 then you didn't get updated but if it's at 12 they got to you for the update.

GM has dropped all Android Auto in the last couple of years moving to Android Automotive. The most significant difference is that Android Auto is sort of 'mirroring app' to bring app info from your phone to the Infotainment while Android Automotive is the full operating system for the Infotainment being native Android. As a consumer, the most noticeable difference with the two is that Android Automotive can't do anything without a subscription that Android Auto can do natively. No voice prompts, no reading of text messages, no Google Maps, etc. Basically, GM has put convenience and a large amount of safety behind a pay-wall with the newest vehicles.

So I just looked at my recipe from dealer. They did do the up date to gateway module and radio up date on my 24. But yet my radio still cuts out and phone cracks on Blu tooth.  Is what that update was supposed to fix?

For what its worth, I am heading to dealer in a few minutes for software update  and my vehicle is already on the version listed as NEW.

Work complete at dealer (see invoice).  I see no change under settings on the infotainment.  Assuming I am looking in right spot.

This is exactly what they did to mine. And again what's it supposed to fix?
