I have recently purchased a 2022 GMC Sierra AT4 2500HD.  The dash has the lens for a head up display.  I cannot figure how to turn it on or infact it even has a HUD.  Why would GMC make a dashboard with HUD lens and no way to activate it.  I have looked in the info settings etc.  I do not have a HUD button as indicated in most videos.  Again, why have the lens in the dash?  Cheaper just to put that in than to make one without it??  Anyone have any thoughts?

I don't have HUD on my 24 AT4HD but it does have the red display on the windshield when my truck thinks I'm going faster than the person in front of me or a person is next to the side of the road.

Have you tried adjusting the brightness and positioning? The switches are to the left side of the steering wheel, 3 of them. Selection, Position and Brightness.

OP & others above besides Another JR -    RTFM!!!!   (Read the F'ing Manual).  The Facts & Data therein "shall set you free" and explain the use and operation of the HUD... and all other vehicle system features.  The Moroney window sticker you received with your vehicle purchase will list what options and features came with your particular vehicle.

  • Maui Tom changed the title to Head Up Display with or without?

Again, why have the lens in the dash?

I believe this is really his question😬 Think he is fully aware that he does not have the HUD feature.

The reason is, the two systems use different two different lense set up, so they are not the same, or just recycled to the next vehichle.

If it has FCA, but not HUD it will have a 'slot' in the dash so it can project the warning for collision alert.

If it does have HUD the projector is larger (more like a square or rectangle) and it has the buttons on the dash.

There is a section in the manual about FCA.

for 2022 2500

(I think they may have changed the 'without HUD display' on later HD's

I downloaded the manual from the GMC site and saved it as a file on my phone shortly after buying the truck. I end up referring to it surprisingly often to remind myself how some feature works.
