They don’t want to re-tool.

That's hogwash, automakers re-tool all the time.  Stellantis is already doing it.  It will save them money too.

Sure they do. But they must make stockholders $$$.

Barra is a Whitmer loving globalist through and through. Regardless of what the fuzz says she can relax, standards wise, she will not.

Stockholders $$$ is top concern, yes, but right up there with it would be adherence to the dogma.

Expect more Turd-bo Max 2.7 full sizes and dynamic cylinders out the wazoo.

And she appears to make a lot of money doing it, as most people at her income level do. They typically recognize global supply chain dependencies. Barra adds more value with the automotive company she leads than most of her internet critics.

The automakers still don't have anything in writing from EPA on what the new CAFE standards will be.  In the endangerment ruling for GHG will be tied up in courts until it gets to Supreme Court.  CAFE fines aren't that much to automakers it's the GHG fines that would be a company in bankruptcy (55,000 per vehicle).

Just remember an ICE emissions program takes about 36 months to execute.  There will be a new administration in January 2029.

Government moves slow to put pencil to paper.

CAFE is gone, doesn't exist.  There are no emissions standards to take 36 months to execute anymore.

The phony Endangerment Finding will be gone soon too.

A new administration cannot undo these changes, they are being cemented in place with legislation that requires a super majority vote in both houses to pass.

Liberty over tyranny, indeed. None of that prohibits automakers from following CAFE standards, or higher emissions regulations. Prior to the authoritarian takeover of our government, most automakers entered into voluntary legal agreements with each other, and with states, to uphold current CAFE regs.

The Hemi is making a comeback at Stellantis where some models are ditching smaller powertrains in favor of a base 5.7 Hemi. The cheering from the crowd muted quickly when they realized that those models will *not* be sold in 17 states plus DC, where CAFE is still the law of the land, upheld by the automakers themselves.

We win.

You do? When I travel to my hometown NJ most vehicles are tiny. Hardly any p/ups. Why you ask? Regulations and High taxes. They are moving. Gigantic subdivisions are breaking ground all around me. I was recently checking out model houses in a new subdivision just down the road from me. Starting prices in this particular one are around 400K. We ran into a couple from California. They are doubling the house size for half the money they left in California. In your case there is an upside for your preferred lifestyle. More choices because people are leaving. If only you can afford the taxes they’ll have to raise even higher. With lowering tax base. You’ll have to travel farther in your non emission electric car because the stores will close with lack of business. Hope you make it before your battery runs dry because of the additional travel. Hopefully you won’t get jacked because of less choices and being closer to the city. You will be competing with all the thugs who should be in jail but because of cashless bail. They’ll be out and about. You won’t get any help from the police because they aren’t as many. Defund the police goes hand in hand in those same areas you hold so dear. I’m happily enjoying my area you seem to be opposed to in my big house with low taxes and crime. With the freedom to buy a Hemi and put under $ 2.50 a gallon of gas. If I want to go down town. I will have no fear. I will always be close to proximity to the man in blue. But no matter. In my pocket is the great equalizer. I have no fear in carrying.

Yea, I tried to make it to where you would understand that mindset is tied together. You know the fallacy of man made global warming, defund the police, cashless bail and high taxes creates more jobs. My bad.

Sounds like a bunch of Fox and Friends BS to me. Someone's been sitting in front of the cartoons on TV too much. Go outside and play, it's good for you.

No just the facts. But hey in joy you’re make believe. I’m still waiting for the ice age, global warming, climate change, raising water, moving coast line and the shot will keep Covid away.
