There may be more truth than you know in that statement.  I've purchased nothing but Chev/GMC trucks my entire life and never thought I'd even consider another brand seriously.  Right now, If I was going to replace my truck, it would be a Ford Super Duty with the 7.3 Godzilla.  This has been my receiver cap since 1988, todays GM trucks may change that.

The most common issues with the 7.3 Ford are more catastrophic than the common issues with the GM 6.6 gasser. There is very little actual data on frequency, but there are certainly more compaints of engine failure due to cam, lifter or oil pump failure on the Ford 7.3 than the GM 6.6.

FYI,

Took my Last truck to the dealer for an oil change. I didn't check the dipstick drove off the lot One mile later, the truck started jerking and shaking shut it off. Checked the dipstick Oil was overfilled one gallon.

Yeah, some "tech" likely serviced it to the Duramax specs.

Probably has the wrong oil in it as well.

This happened to me with my gasser on the 2nd "free" oil change. Stupidly I never checked the dipstick and when I changed the oil next myself I drained out 10 quarts (Duramax spec). I, too, thought they put the wrong oil in so I sent a sample in to Blackstone, but luckily they confirmed it was 5W-30. I'm assuming the oil change "tech" saw an HD truck and just did the "standard" 10 quarts.

Yup learned my lesson, only I change my oil, even when the dealer includes them in the sale.
