Dennis1947 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Just purchased a 26 Silverado 1500 RST Z71. Been reading about the DFM issues and am worried when will my engine die. Am trying to get used to driving in manual L9. Would just like to put it in D and not have to worry about my truck dying. Am I overreacting? Any advice?
davester Posted May 23 Posted May 23 it's not nearly as bad as it seems. the only things you find online are the people who have had problems, the people who are just using their trucks every day w/o a problem, are just doing that, they aren't posting online that their truck is still working fine. If you want, you can get a range device that disables dfm, but it is unknown if it makes a difference with how long the lifters will live.
diyer2 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Use a quality oil. Amsoil, Redline. Best insurance for sure IMO. 1
