As for the step bars, friend did just that, bought some cheap ones and we are in Michigan and they turned to rust in less than a year.  In 3 yrs he had to replace one of them because they rusted out from the inside even though he kept after them cleaning and polishing etc. Had to drive 300 miles (to Chicago area) to find a reg cab wt, he ordered one and dealer never got it and with winter approaching (plow truck) he needed fo find one ASAP.  Furd dealer found him one but he choose to drive to get a GMC.

Just what you can expect with cheap stuff, LOW quality.

I hear you, I'm in upstate NY. This is my second set of Westin's. Got 5 years out of the first, I have 7 years on the second, but they're shot. Westin's not making them anymore. Looks like DeeZee still has them available for my 2014, but not for the 2026. I have a set coming from Ionics for the 2014. Same 3 year warranty as the DeeZees. Ionic also appear have them available for the 2026 ...

I was a little surprised this morning when a third local dealer, one I've never really done any business with, showed some interest and follow through to the point that I've ordered my build for a new 2026, std cab/std bed :)

Keep an eye on it with them.  Did they give you an order #?  Did they actually have allocation for one?

I double checked the dates for 2026 regular cab 1500s for Chevy and GMC, the last dealer order submission date was April 30th.

No, not yet. Hoping I'll have something a little more definitive in the next day or 2. They seemed to be very confident they can order it. I do have some understanding of the whole allocations and restraints stuff so we'll see.

I think this is what I'm looking for.

Anywho.  are you trying to order?  Or locate?  Ordering for 2 door 1/2 tons has been stopped as of April or May?  So you won't be able to order.  You'll have to shop on the ground units or in transit units.

Ordering was stopped because the new trucks are coming.

Looks like you're correct. Got a call today telling me as much. They found a truck that has a lot of the right options, but a couple that aren't. It has chrome bumbers that I'm having trouble getting past cosmetically. It's also appears to be missing the 2 spd transfer case (4 wheel low), along with having several options I have no intersest in, or paying for.

Keep looking. But, you`re gonna run out of inventory fast now. I ordered mine. The only way to get em the way you want em.

So, you`ll have to at least get close to what you wanted [or not].

Time will tell. I gave them a go ahead. They're going swap out the chrome bumbers for the black ones for me. I'm pretty sure, sooner or later I'll regret compromising on the 2 spd transfer case, but I'm getting old and want a new truck and this is where I am. Losing the power seat and remote start too compared to my current truck. Not too worried about the seat, and it looks like I can add the remote start aftermarket from Compustar for $420 or so depending on level.

Chevy still?  Dealer can add the factory remote start if so.  85768274 if the truck does not have the power release tailgate, or 85773997 if it has the power release tailgate.  Gets you access to use it with the MyChevy app if you have onstar on that new truck as well.

Yes. I was under the understanding I could not get remote start with the WT. Looks like the 997 would work. Sent my sales guy an email. I'd love to add this from GM vs. paying twice as much for an aftermarket solution. Thanks!

Life would be a lot simpler if these auto companies would just make vehicles that people want to buy.  I still can’t believe that they don’t sell a standard cab with a short bed.  My neighbor has on that’s not too old (a RAM) and it looks great.

Hope you’re happy with the new truck. Personally, I’d find it hard to compromise as much as you had to do to get what you want.

Special order?  I go on the Chevy web site and the only option I see for a regular cab is a standard bed.

Some truck configurations are no longer available for MY26 ordering:

  • Chevrolet Silverado LD Double Cab — Closed
  • GMC Sierra LD Double Cab — Closed

Both double cab configurations will be unavailable for approximately 13 months due to plant retooling. Fleets requiring these models will need to consider alternative configurations or model strategies.

Cut-Off: March 27, 2026

Brand Model Important Note
Cadillac Lyriq EV model
Cadillac CT4 Sedan
Chevrolet Silverado LD Regular Cab 8–9 month plant retooling gap expected
GMC Sierra LD Regular Cab

8–9 month plant retooling gap expected

Wait...are you talking the 5ft8in box?  They've never done that on a regular cab.  I might have misunderstood your reply.

RCSB = Regular Cab "short"/"standard" box (6ft6in box).

RCLB = Regular Cab Long Box (8ft box).

Out of habit I guess I've always referred to the RCSB as a short box but technically yes its the standard box.  Ram never made a 5ft box regular cab either.  Just the standard 6ft 4in box or the 8ft box.

GM offers the work truck in a std cab/std bed as well as a std cab/long bed. For whatever reason you can't get the V8 with the std bed, but you can with a long bed. I took a quick look at the Fords a day or 2 ago, and yes you can get a Ford std cab/std bed. Lousy color selection though. If I remember correctly they also seemed to be more expensive.

The big thing I'm giving up is the 2 spd xfer case. They apparently can add the remote start for me (which I'll do), and we'll do an aftermarket Patriot spray on bedliner as all of the Line-X dealers around here have jumped ship due to new rules being imposed by corporate Line-X.

I'm hoping my 2014 wheels I bought back in 2014 as take offs from an LTZ extended cab will fit the new truck. Getting mixed answers on that. They're 18"s vs the new 17"s, but they have the same bolt pattern, offset, and the overall height/diameter is within a 1/10th of an inch as the new truck wheels and tires. Time will tell. I went through the job of pulling them off the truck this morning and putting the original 20" wheels and tires on it for trade in.

The wheels are 50/50 shot.  Its not the offset that's the issue, its the casting of the spokes.  So they'd have to pull a front wheel and fit one of yours and see if it hits the caliper.

9 times out of 10 older factory wheels won't clear the front calipers on these new trucks because of the inside of the spoke cast shape.  Hits the caliper.  Needs wheel spacers to fit.

    • Atlas,   Then following your logic we can't believe any story that the MSM produces? I mean it's documented they heavily donate to Democrat candidates. Vote Democrat in high percentages. Many MSM talents are married to Democrat politicians, Gov. employees. That goes for on-air and off, personalities and reporters. So they would all be biased and nothing they produce is to be believed in your mind?   Again the article simply was about ways AI can be used for pricing products. Nothing discounted current situations as a factor.    Again keep looking through your left/right lenses. I don't live my life that way.   And as a heads up this thread will be cleaned up again as much of this is off topic and is receiving
    • Yes, and only a couple years before delivery. 🙄
    • So you're saying toss the baby out with the bathwater? @txab posted article was her take on how AI can be used to manipulate pricing as it already does and has been rebuked by the judiciasry in housing. How AI can be and is used to maximize refinery or even Amazon operations all of which are true but because she is who she is; that makes what she says about what is true, false? Is that something akin to Pre-justice aka prejudice?    Look, I'm first in line to approach all information with caution just because we live in a world where people like to lie about someone or something with such a straight face and in such volume that it makes digging to the truth wearisome. Meaning I understand the skepticisms but if I were to toss out everything a person is for a view they hold then my pool of people to draw wisdom from would be non-existent and I'd be forced to reinvent the wheel daily. Not practical.    "Be innocent as a dove but as cautious as a serpent."    Test each word. Every good lie is part truth or no one would believe it. Find the truth in it and reject what isn't.    On this one, AI is being used to do what has been done by hand for hundreds of years already but at such speed, the point of a computer, that it is more easily monetized. This one wasn't that hard a lift.    I wrote a few formulas in a Lotus 123 program decades ago, a series of linked Macros actually, that allowed a daily inventory to be turned into a running P&L and production plan. Something that took three departments a week to assemble now took the time it takes to input the 'daily changes' in inventory. Later that was ungraded to the more powerful Excel program an and integrated with bar code scanning, inventory to supply was done once per shift. It had a huge impact on production scheduling, Seamless interruption flexibility, inventory error reduction, raw materials cost effective utilization and scrap reduction. Huge improvement in the bottom line. I spent months on that and AI could have done it in minutes. So yes, it not only can be used, they would be foolish to not try. The legality, ethics and morality are not the domain of AI. Humans need to keep a reign on it.
    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
