Looking at ordering a '26 WT because I want a std cab, std bed

I own a 2014 Silverado LT std cab, std bed. My only option to replace it is the work truck. I've spent some time on the GM build and price trying to figure out if I can get something I'd be happy with. I think I have. The only 2 things I'm seeing I can't get is remote start and power drivers seat. Looks like I can get remote start after market. Any thoughts on this appreciated. Here's a pic of the build from GM's build site.

Reg Cab guys are a small minority. Most available trucks will be white, black or silver.

Mine has been perfect so far. But I haul more stuff than people. Reg Cab/Standard Bed are easier to park.

No issues with the 2.7L after 50K, however I change the oil every 3K because of the turbo and direct injection.

i haven't had a regular cab since 1987, just needed more space for the family VA thats a good looking truck

Very nice truck. I’m a strange one. I never considered trucks family vehicles. Work or personal vehicles for men. Watching kids or ladies climb into trucks can be amusing. I tried for retirement but the wife didn’t take long with her displeasure. That led to our first SUV. Now a minivan. People really miss the boat on that one. Even a midsized truck was vetoed. My wife’s car is off limits. That’s ok by me. I could do a full sized car ok. But for an old guy you have to sit first then bring the legs in. Then spin towards the door put both legs out then stand up. Mini vans are just high enough to step in and sit. Step out and walk. I hear the Toyota Crown is kinda like that. I’ll try that sometime. Go ahead and laugh, you’ll be old someday. A regular cab truck. I’m kinda looking for an older GM V-8. The Ridgeline is OK. But we’re not exactly speaking the same language. It’s a looker. But I’m missing that GM feeling, an old GM.

I think GM even offers a remote start accessory kit after sale. Requires programming from the service dept, but you get factory remote fobs and everything. Bug the sales guy and see if he'll find a way to include one to seal the deal?

Power seats... I have no experience here, but the OE seats will have airbags so I'd be less inclined to go monkeying with modifications or trying to swap in a power unit from a higher trim.

I love standard cabs. I'd have a V8, manual 4x4 if they offered one. My crew cab is my Swiss Army Knife of vehicles...it does truck things, it's comfortable on long trips, it carries extra adults in comfort, and it has room for keeping cargo in the cab when it's just the two of us. Fullsize crews are the modern fullsize car or wagon of 40-50 years ago and IMO they offer more versatility than a fullsize SUV like a Tahoe or Burb because of the bed.

I'm 62 and bought a slightly used '22 Corvette late June '23. So I'm familiar with the sit first then bring the legs in method :).

The truck I spec'd out in the pic includes some very expensive GM step bars. I like them. They look good, but I can buy a set of Iconic 3" round step bars for ~$160, vs the $850 for the GM bars.

Nice. Simple, functional. I here you on the parking. The extended and crew cabs are beasts. Good to hear your 2.7 engine has been trouble free.

I say go for it. That thing will be so easy to park. My CC std bed is a PITA to park haha but I haul the kids around every so often (usually we're in the wife's van though).

As for the step bars, friend did just that, bought some cheap ones and we are in Michigan and they turned to rust in less than a year. In 3 yrs he had to replace one of them because they rusted out from the inside even though he kept after them cleaning and polishing etc. Had to drive 300 miles (to Chicago area) to find a reg cab wt, he ordered one and dealer never got it and with winter approaching (plow truck) he needed fo find one ASAP. Furd dealer found him one but he choose to drive to get a GMC.

Just what you can expect with cheap stuff, LOW quality.

GM's are stainless and have a fairly robust powder coating, although, still not worth $850 in my opinion. They will hold up a lot better than their cheaper steel aftermarket counterparts.

What I like about the GM step bars is dealers will often equip their dealer stock with them. Lots of margin. Which means a lot of people end up buying them because they're already on the truck, even if they don't like them. So it's pretty easy to find brand new takeoffs with hardware on Marketplace and Craigslist for about $250.

That's what I did for my crew cab. I wanted ZR2 rock rails for the look, but with the ability to bolt up GM's assist step package. From GM it's about a $2500 accessory all in. The old folks in my life can't get in the truck without steps. I found the whole package on marketplace for $180.

So. Get this. On the Chevy regular cab, you can get the factory remote start at the dealer from the accessories catalog. BUT. GMC, you can't.

Now...get this...GMC 2 door, you CAN get the power seat.

Go. Figure.

Anywho. are you trying to order? Or locate? Ordering for 2 door 1/2 tons has been stopped as of April or May? So you won't be able to order. You'll have to shop on the ground units or in transit units.

Ordering was stopped because the new trucks are coming.

If I can get a local dealer to take me seriously, and they could get me this build, I'd be all over it. I've talked to 3 different local Chevy dealers about it. Still waiting for a significant interest/follow up from any of them.

Wow. If that's true it would explain why nobody's getting back to me. I just saw the 2027 today. I don't like the new front end. The headlights are butt ugly. Well, I guess I keep that ~$40k or so in the bank. Should buy a ton maintenance on my '14 for now. Not what I want, but knew this might be a long shot.

New truck has yet to be revealed. AI renderings and camo spy shots only help so much to figure it out.

RCSB appears to be coming back again but can't 100% say for sure yet. Ford is the only other OEM that makes an RCSB.

I was a little surprised this morning when a third local dealer, one I've never really done any business with, showed some interest and follow through to the point that I've ordered my build for a new 2026, std cab/std bed .
