NAV and 6 disk changer in a Silverado

Check your glove box, it has a sticker with a lot of 3 character codes, letters and numbers. If yours had Y91 or Y92, it is lux. My dad had an envoy denali, and it is lux. Also the equalzier features will have more than just bass and treble, some have midrange.

I have a 2005 TrailBlazer LT, with Bose/6CD/XM/OnStar/RSA. I have acquired a Nav unit model 15204335

From previous posts, am I correct that I do not have a Lux amp, and this head unit will not work in my SUV? About how much would I have to spend to get the Lux amp, if this won't work?

Apparently the Envoy Denali has a Lux amp. I just checked my glove box and it did infact say Y91. So now I guess I need the part numbers for a lux Touch Screen unit. Thanks everyone for all of your help

I am confused. Are there GM Nav units that will work with non-Lux 2003-5 Bose Amps?. I have a 2003 Sierra with Bose but not Lux Amp and would like to upgrade to a Nav unit.

HEY, EVERYONE

I think we all should thank, many of the people on this site. Their is one person that posts on this thread and has helped many of us with our questions. So lets all give a big THANKS to BBSILVERADO for helping us thru our troubles.

If you want a new one I would give Model Electronics Inc. a call (1-800-433-9657) or check with Specmo (http://www.specmo.com/) or JP Customs.

If you don't mind a used one and dealing with the theftloc preprogramming you can get a good deal on Ebay. Just make sure the seller knows the difference between the lux and non-lux or ask for the part number if it is not stated.

Local junkyards often have them too and they are usually cheaper than Ebay.

Your Trailblazer will not have the lux amp, it should have the Bose premium system (non-lux). Your amp should be in the back behind the quarter panel trim.

You can change it over to the lux amp the same way we do it in the fullsize vehicles. running the class II data bus wire from the headunit back to the amp will be a little harder or time consuming. the lux amp can bought at any dealer, GM Parts Direct, Ebay, Model Electronics Inc., Spemco, JP Customs.

Keep in mind that a new amp will need to be programmed by a dealer tech before it can be used. A used amp will work right away but may need to be setup for your body style if it doesn't should right.

New ones run in the $300 -$350 range.

Everything is the same, the Lux models have a few more DSP features (soundfield settings) and the amp has a little more power output.

I talked to a person at Model Electronics. They can only sell the unit, not the CD or antenna. Cost is about $1600. He recommended going to a dealer.

Also, he said the INR radio part number I gave him will only work with a "dumb" non Class 2 amp. That sounds to me like pre 2003 to me.

Thanks for the response! It looks like I'll be hunting for a non-lux HU. It doesn't seem worth upgrading the amp.

New question: If a vehicle is equipped with OnStar, there are already GPS coordiantes available on the vehicle's data bus. Has anyone heard of using these coordinates instead of running a seperate GPS antenna for the HU? Or am I completely off in even thinknig this may be possible?
