I have a 2005 Silverado CC, with the bose sound system. If I take the bose amp out and replace it with the lux amp, can I buy a gm navigation, radio from ebay and just plug it in??

I have the rear seat controls and the steering wheel controls, I want everything to work.

Is there any splicing required to change the radio, or amp??

not exactly...you need to do some rewiring at the amp connectors to get the lux amp to work. read the beginning of this thread for instructions on how to rewire the amp connectors. if you get stuck in the process, we can all help out!

PS-- remember you also need to buy a GPS antenna

I also have on-star. Is the GPS antena different then the onstar antenna?

The GPS antenna is different and a separate antenna. The GPS antenna mounts under the dash pad near the center defroster vent.

I have been searching for gm navigation systems on e-bay and have found two that in the desription say, "Will work with any gm bose system, does not need lux amp."

Can this be accurate??

I don't see how that can be, the lux models use a digital audio low level signal and the non lux use a analog low level signal. The non-Bose units use a high level analog (speaker level) output.

All the unit have the same pinout configuration but the difference is in the signal they put out.

I got one of those - sent it back. It worked...kind of. Had a pretty bad hum and stayed on when the car was off. The guy said he worked for GM and reprogrammed the software in the radio to work with either AMP. I ended up doing it the right way. Got the LUX AMP and the correct HU.

Has anyone, or does anyone plan to write a tech articel on addung a navigation system to a silverado? This wold be helpful. I would like to convert my truck, but I am a little learing about the wiring involved in changing the amp.

I also would need direction in removing the dash pad, radio bezel, and getting to the amp. I am able to do almost anything, but I do need explicit instructions.

me too lol. i finally got all my parts together. Gonna try to do it very soon. There is an avalanche fan club, there is good directions there.

How on earth do you get the two screws on the front/engine side of the amp out. They are under that metal plate, i can get the rear ones easy.

Im wondering the same thing.

I got all my parts in

TNR Part # 15230099

LUX Amp# 15191601

I only did the wiring mods at the amp cuase thats all i could find.

I got the Theftlock msg right away and did the trick to bypass it.

Started playing with it and didnt get any sound and my nav disc wouldnt recognize.

Everything else works.

Can someone email me the other mods needed?

[email protected]

I stopped by my local dealership to get theftlock removed and they wanted to charge me an 1-1.5 hours so i left and i will try another one today

Thanks for any help, this thread has been very helpful already.

Cant wait to get this all working!
