How on earth do you get the two screws on the front/engine side of the amp out. They are under that metal plate, i can get the rear ones easy.

Im wondering the same thing.

I got all my parts in

TNR Part # 15230099

LUX Amp# 15191601

I only did the wiring mods at the amp cuase thats all i could find.

I got the Theftlock msg right away and did the trick to bypass it.

Started playing with it and didnt get any sound and my nav disc wouldnt recognize.

Everything else works.

Can someone email me the other mods needed?

[email protected]

I stopped by my local dealership to get theftlock removed and they wanted to charge me an 1-1.5 hours so i left and i will try another one today

Thanks for any help, this thread has been very helpful already.

Cant wait to get this all working!

Did you add the databus wire to the amp, you can splice into it at the headunit. It would be the orange wire in A1 on the 24 pin connector and you run it down to the amp and put it into the B10 position on the 24 pin connector. The only change at the headunit is to add the VSS wire to the 12 pin connector in the "E" position. You can pickup the VSS at the gauge cluster connector in the A4 position and it should be a dark green with white tracer.

What mapping DVD to you have, there are two types, those made for the Denso units and those made for the Delphi units.

Is your amp brand new, if so it will need to be programmed, if it is used it should work unless you didn't add the databus wire to it.

Thanks BBS,

How did you come to learn all this info?

I will do those things and let you know

its a GM map Disc 3.0 It looks like an original and came with the manual and case.

The amp is from a 03 escalade

So far 4 dealerships and none know what to do to remove theftlock

For those of us who don't want to go the NAV route, would an 6-disc Escalade/Denali head unit work with the LUX amp? There aren't a great number H2 HU's around, especially since they're only limited by a 1.5 year timeframe of the ones that are compatible.

Most of what I learned came from this thread and the GM service manuals. I did my upgrade after seeing how Linda (the creator of this topic)) did it and since then have done about 8 or 9 for friends and relatives.

That amp should work with your lux HU. As for the DVD, it sounds like the right one. If it is part no. 10390370 then it is the right one and should work.

The VSS wire is not required for the nav unit to fuction. The VSS wire is there to help make the tracking a little smoother and to compensate for areas that have a poor GPS signal. Also the VSS wire connected the Nav software will not allow you to set a destination or make changes to the destination while the vehicle is in motion. To get around that "safety function" a simple switch can be added to that wire and mounted somewhere convenient so you can shut the switch off and make your destination changes then turn it back on. The older models do not have that annoying feature.

I got sound and everything seems to be working great, still need to get the theftlock removed but it seems the dealerships arent to bright when it comes to the vehicles they sell and service.

I think the Nav unit isnt accepting cds or dvds and comes up with a error each time they are inserted.

Hopefully the person i purchased it from will exchange it for me.

thanks again for all the help

Yes, a Bose 6 disc changer headunit can work with the lux amp, or you can add the slave 6 disc changer to your single disc headunit the same way we add them to the nav units.

You will run into the same "theftloc pecedure" when you swap headunits. The Bose 6 disc headunits are not marketed as lux or non-lux, they must be reprogrammed for the type of setup you have if you get the wrong one. The slave changer will work on any setup as long as the headunit has the "aux" or "CD" button.

So that's why getting the H2 6-disc HU from a 2003-2004.5 will work because it's already set up for the Lux amp and basically will be plug-n-play?

I was wondering about the Escalade and Denali 6-disk HU and if that will be plug-n-play as well? I don't know if the Escalade and Denali were offered with the premium/crappy 6-disc HU that is offered in the 2003+ Silverados, that's why I'm trying to be cautious and not purchase a HU that I could just get out of any truck. I've heard that they (premium and luxury 6-disc HU's) are one in the same and can be reprogrammed to have the Lux features, but I'd rather bypass that step if entirely possible. I don't have much faith in the dealer. He might figure out the Theft-Loc, but I'm not betting on it!

there is no guarantee that all 03-04.5 H2's or even the Escalades and Denali came with the Lux setup (Y91) I have seen all of those with the crappy amp. The best way to be sure is check for the code Y91 in the donor vehicle. You may try calling Model Electronics Inc. or Specmo (they are both OEM audio dealers) they can give you some part numbers for the headunits that came with the lux amps. I had some of the numbers around here but can't find them at the moment.

One more note: The programming of the headunit to the proper configuratio is very easy and most techs due this alot more than you think because of warranty/ replace work. they don't due as much theftloc removal becuase when they replace headunits they come with no VIN stored on them so the new unit will automaticaly learn the VIN when first installed and therefor need no theftloc reprogramming.

I wrote linda, but ill ask here too. I have a new amp, everything works, but the sound just isnt right. Reading above, you think I need to have it programmed? and to what? I have a 03 Silverado LT Z-71 Ext Cab. I would guess the sierra denali?

Thanks all.

Here is a link to removing the theft lock, its really easy. I just read the steps off to the guy and it worked. He thought it was neat and a learning process, he didint charge me. And it only took about a minute or two.

Gm Dealership has my truck right now and they think they may not be able to get the theftlock removed.

anyone else try the 15230099 Headunits yet in a silverado?

EDIT: Theftlock Removed, was able to clear the vin then reset the radio and it relearned mine.

Ok, thanks for replying, next question then. For the time being, i am just going to get the HU #15229287 or equvilent. Besides the antenna and disk, is the unit plug and play? besides getting the techII thing done on a used unit.

If I buy a new unit, there is no need for the techII correct?

Thanks all,

Amos

Yes, the unit is plug and play if it is a new one, you will have to add a wire from the gauge cluster wiring connector (dark green w/ white tracer in A4 position) to the 12 pin connector on the headunit to the "E" position. The wire is the VSS (vehicle speed signal) and it is only needed for the navigation function. The signal helps keep the navigation working smoother by providing a speed input when the GPS signal is weak.

I am new to the site. I have a Z-71 04 Suburban and I added the the NAV unit 15229287 with GPS antenna 15135178 and do not have the disk yet so could not try it. The 4th dealer was able to unlock it finally. The first three were clueless.

QUESTION: Will I need to add in the speed sensor wire as well or is it in the cluster of pre existing wires? If so are the instructions the same here as above?

I cannot currently look at the truck wiring harness since I am away at work in China right now for a month.

The VSS wire is not there, you will have to add it. Same procedure as posted
