actually i just reread a post and after listening to my newest cd, i'll be going to non-lux route so i have some $s for video in the rear.. lux may sound better, but my audiophile days are long-gone.

Ok, thanks for replying, next question then. For the time being, i am just going to get the HU #15229287 or equvilent. Besides the antenna and disk, is the unit plug and play? besides getting the techII thing done on a used unit.

If I buy a new unit, there is no need for the techII correct?

Thanks all,

Amos

Yes, the unit is plug and play if it is a new one, you will have to add a wire from the gauge cluster wiring connector (dark green w/ white tracer in A4 position) to the 12 pin connector on the headunit to the "E" position. The wire is the VSS (vehicle speed signal) and it is only needed for the navigation function. The signal helps keep the navigation working smoother by providing a speed input when the GPS signal is weak.

There is no way to use a GM (Delphi) unit in a Ford, They need to have the GM classII databus to function. There is a nice Alpine unit that will work in the Fords or anything with the double din opening.

I meant can you get the ford navigation unit and switch it out with the stock ford cd unit....is it plug and play like some of the gm models or are there a bunch of wiring changes also?

OK. I'm buying the pieces for my Non-Lux TNR upgrade and have a question about the CD Changers. I know that I have to use a CDX with the metal tabs on the side, but I've been noticing some significant price differences between even those.

P/N 15055250 doesn't come up on GM Parts Direct website. I assume it's been superceeded by 15122617. It lists for $608 and they sell it for $300.

Then I found this CDX on eBay, also with the metal tabs (p/n 15110393).

eBay Item

The response to one of the questions listed in the description states that it's from a 2005 year model of some sort. It's also listed on GM Parts Direct, but lists for $412 and sells for $206.

So what's different between these two units? And which do I need to buy for my 2003 Yukon with Non-Lux Bose system?

As long as the CDX in question has the metal tabs on the side, it will work in the 2003 and up Class II data-bus equipped trucks. GM tends to use many different part numbers for parts that are (basically) identical. That changer in that ebay auction will suit you just fine!

Ive also bought the harness wiring for a cd changer in the future (6 disc slot in dash). Should I hook this on up now to my HU so i dont have to pull it out an connect it when/if i put then changer in? I would have to do the wiring pin adjustments correct?

Thanks for all the info. :tear:

Problem with getting the non lux HU. What are the correct part numbers for the lux amp? Anyone have one for sale? The numbers I have are: 1519992, 15199884, 15112662, and possible 15188044.

Are there any others?

actually.... its best to buy a used one... That way you are sure it has already been programmed and is configured correctly. However if you cant find ANY on ebay or anything, programming the amp is not a big deal, but it just will make the dealer a little weary and he will maybe be a bit reluctant at first. Search ebay with really general terms... I use "Bose amp" "bose amplifier" and "gm bose" "Escalade amp" "Escalade amplifier" "denali amp" "denali amplifier". Try those search terms... Hope that helps you out!!
