What is the c2 and E on the radio side? I already spliced into the B9 on the dash side.

Thanks for any help…

The C2 is the 12 pin connector on the headunit and "E" is the position in that connector that the dark green w/ white tracer (VSS) wire goes to.

C-2 is the smaller of the two plugs that go into the back of the radio. E is the slot you need.

First remove the instrument cluster screws(4). Tilt the bottom out and carefully remove it enough to reach the harness. Place the cluster out of your way. Where the wires go into the "plug", the wire tabs (looks like a small comb) have very small printing. You are looking for A-4, dark green with white tracer. That's the wire you need to tap into.

The smaller of the two "plugs" that go into the back of the radio is the one you need to look at. Find E and that's where the other end of the wire goes. I hope you have a pin for the wire to fit into the slot. If that space is taken some one else will have to give you advice as to which slot to use, but it should be empty. That's all there is to it. I think B-9 is for the power train but I'm not sure. You do not need to splice into this wire. There is a rendering of this plug early in this thread that may help you find the E slot on the back of the plug.

Good luck!

Thanks for your help... I was reading about E but it said c2. Thanks for helping me out. :uhoh:

I already used the B9 on the dash. Should I move it to a-4? B9 was dark green with a white tracer. It looks like GM used the b9 on the envoy..

No way I'm an expert, just read my posts. But, the vehicle speed is used through out the vehicle for various functions. A-4 has been the recomended wire for nav operations. I would use A-4 if that wire is also dark green/white.

I had my TNR Nav unit programmed with the TechII before I had the Antenna attached to it. I just installed the Antenna today and nothing. I put the DVD in and it shows MI as the State and I live in IN. I pulled out the antenna and put it on the dash, still nothing. Is it possible that I need to have the unit programmed with the Antenna attached?

Thanks

Theftlock is the only thing programmed with the techII (unless you changed your amp too). When you are looking at the screen driving around does it not show the correct road and position?

Is the Red "GPS" light on in the upper left corner under the compass? If no then you may just need to calibrate the system. To do that go to the nav setup screen and select calibrate system.

If the light is on then you either have no signal in that area or a bad connection or ground, or the antenna is defective. Programming shouldn't have anything to do with the antenna or reception.

I would say since you bought a used nav unit that the system is just lost and needs recalibrated because it has been moved a great distance since it was last powered up in the donor's vehicle.

Calibrate system?: This feature will calibrate wheel

speed to assist in the calculation of vehicle position.

This feature also allows you to manually reposition the

vehicle symbol on the map. You may need to calibrate

the system following a tire change, rotation, or if

your vehicle has been relocated a great distance.

Choose Yes to calibrate the system, or No to leave the

calibration as it is.

Is there any way to test the vss wire to see if the radio is receiving a signal?

If its a 05 TNR, try setting a destination while the vehicle is in motion, if you can then your not getting a VSS input.

Yep.. No Signal... I will move the wire to the other location and see if that works.

Thanks

"other location" where did you tap into the wire at? GM uses green w/ white tracer colored wires for other things too other than the VSS. make sure the wire you tap into is the VSS wire that goes into the gauge cluster connector in the A4 position.

BB,

The Envoy diagram that I posted showed the location at B9. I went with the A4 (Black) and it did not work. I changed to the B9 (Green / White) and it worked. Thanks for your help. The system works great. I am now going to order a CD Changer.

Thanks again

Glad you got it working, I forgot you where working with an Envoy. the wire colors are the same but I see now that the position is different, Sorry about that.
