If you got a navigation headunit for the non-Bose system then you don't need the amp. What is the part number on your nav unit?

95% of the units need the Bose luxury or Bose premium amp for the audio to function.

That is a luxury Bose headunit and it will require the Bose Lux amp. I won't say that it can't be done, but it is going to be alot of work to change your system over to a Bose system.

You might want to look for a nav unit from a Buick Rendezvous, they where the only ones I know of that are for a non-Bose setup and that will be a direct swap for your stock radio. The part number you need is 10352079, there is a touchscreen version too but I don't know the number.

I have an 04 Sierra extended cab SLT. It has a radio in it that has a 6-disk changer and xm. I would like to put in the factory nav system that I have been reading about in this forum. What do I need. The speaker grills have Bose on them. I would like to end up with the navigation system and xm and a cd changer.

The glove box sticker does not show a y91 option. Also I want the steering wheel controls to continue to work.

Thanks

All you need is a Non-lux Bose Nav unit, the GPS antenna, mapping DVD.

You will have to add a VSS (vehicle speed signal) wire from the gauge cluster connector (A4 position) to the 12 pin connector on the radio (E position). That is optional but it allows the nav unit to coninue to function when the GPS signal is weak or lost.

All of things like XM, Onstar, wheel controls, and rear seat audio will continue to work as they did before.

If you want the 6 disc changer, you will need to get one made for the 03 to current vehicles and the harness for it (#15312903)

GPS antenna - 15135178

map DVD - 10390370 (version 3.0)

Nav HU - 10377287 (TNR-touchscreen model)

or

Nav HU - 15108421 (INR-joystick model)

6 disc changer - 15055250 (there are many different numbers that will work)

Quick question for the experts. I was wondering if the VSS wire might be already present on my Burb. I know I will need to tap into this to make the navigatio system more fluid when I install the TNR next week. I ask because my current config is a Bose 6cd built in to the HU and it has a Speed controlled volume system built into the radio. Was thinking this might utilize that type of input to function.

Just a thought.

No, The VSS is not going to be present at the headunit's connector. The only vehicles that will have it there already are the ones that had the Nav available as a factory option (04-06 Uplevel models)

The VSS wire is only wired to the gauge cluster (from the PCM)

The speed compensated volume works from a signal on the databus wire from the BCM.

Thanks a lot. I'm new to this forum and it is great. I have read every post and came away confused about what I would need. Is there any wiring harness that I would need to buy? I'll let you know what happens. All I need to do now is convince the better half that I need this.

I see a few different part numbers for navigation HU's....

15230099,

15229287,

10377531,

10377287.

Does anyone know the difference in these. I believe they are all touch screen.

Thanks BB.

I have an '04 Yukon XL...non lux Bose. Just bought the 10377531

HU on Ebay. I was watching many auctions with the different part numbers and it confused me. I have been reading and REreading this thread for hours now and soaking it all in.

SO...I am headed toward the install. Sure am glad to have found this info!! I may be picking your brains for details as I get closer. IT WILL save me a mistake or two that I am sure would have happened.

I need to find the lux amp next......any hints?

Last addition will be the Soundgate adapter for SIRIUS. I have grown fond of it and am not sure I will like the XM....Since I need a tuner anyway, I might as well get the one I am used to.

Last....I currently have the AM/FM/CD/Cassette.....besides EBAY, is there a good place to liquidate it after the new install?

Here is a question.

I think I have mapped the connector moves for C1 and C2 andf have that very clear. I have been studying the PDF that was created by YOUNGHOG.

Is there any changes needed for the RSA connection to A1? I am thinking no....the changes are made by deleting the same wires' other end at C1 (pins B3, 4, 5, &6).

How does this all relate to Splice pack #SP 207?? And does something need to be done there?

AM I on the right track?

thks in advance.

Its amazing to me that this thread has been going on for the better part of a year. Seems that a book should be written on the subject. I can picture a black and yellow book entitled, ".........GMC TNR and INR for Dummies" :)

I also am struggling with getting my TNR to work in my '03 Envoy. Any help will be appreciated.

My vehicle came equipped with an in-dash 6 CD changer (15183817) and what I believe to be a non-lux amp (15099842) because the Y91 option is NOT listed.

I bought a non-lux TNR (15229287) and installed it but I get no sound. The dealer is just as stumped as I.

I've read posts about programming the amp . I don't believe I need to do that since the amp works with the original HU. I'm led to believe that while the Y91 option isn't listed I do in fact have lux amp since my old HU presents several sound fields.

Any ideas or suggestions? At this point I'd pee on a spark plug to get it working. :(:thumbs::fume:
