mrbossman, yes it can, and yes it will.

Firetiger, i misunderstood your question, sorry. So you have a 6 disk headunit that was of the premium variety. Now after the theftlock removal, you have no sound? If this is correct, i still stand by my first comment. I still think the AMP took a flash it wasnt supposed to. From what i remember, the LUX 6 disk has the same "pin-out" at the head unit harness as the non-lux, thus, all the programming should be in the AMP. I will confess i am not up to speed on these head units and how they operate. The only reason i say this is because the NAV units are not flashable, you cant take a non-lux NAV and make it a LUX one by just flashing it. Not at the dealership with the TECH II anyhow. So i would say get another AMP, and hook it up and see what you get. I dont know if they make these 6 disk headunits in both the lux and non-lux variety, i didnt think they did.

Yes, unfortunately they did make the 6-disc HU's in both lux and non-lux. The non-lux are offered in the Silverados and now that's basically what I have after they messed it up. It went into the dealer as a lux and came out with non-lux. Nice, eh?

If I knew they were going to hose up the lux 6-disc and downgrade it to the premium, I could have just bought a cheapo premium 6-disc as that's where I stand right now. That's pretty much the entire reason for getting the H2 6-disc so you don't have to monkey around with getting it programmed to the lux version and you're a step ahead.

I still have the door chimes so I'm assuming the amp is OK. But until I get the HU reprogrammed to lux, I won't know for sure.

Maybe it is the case that it all has to do with the amp? I've heard otherwise also, so it's a mystery right now to me.

I'd be nice to try a different lux amp, but I'm not going to throw another $100 down the tubes on this BS. What started out as a low-budget upgrade has turned into spittin' into the wind. Until I get some concrete answers on what can be done, I'm going to just rip it out and let it collect dust.

I was going to buy a .45 Ruger but decided to try this project first. Looks like I'll have a couple of items for target practice when I get that gun............

Thanks again! If you have any other ideas, please let me know.

Installed my TNR into a 2005 Silverado LT tonight ...

Now I have to decide what other audio gems I want. This 6 disk changer deal looks sweet, but I am also contemplating a set of AUX RCA jacks for SIRIUS in additon to XM and an MP3 player.

Hmmmmm.... decisions, decision, decision. Thanks for all the great information on this thread. It is a daydreamers paridise!!

I just bought http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=7982720650 as my NAV unit. the part # is 15230099. Anyone know the part # for the aentenna? Does the NAV unit have to be installed before they program it? Do they pull it out of the vehicle when they program it? Whats the newest version of the mapdisc?

Based on my research over the past few days:

3.0 on the disc

15135178 is the GPS antenna

all on e-bay

if i already have the bose XM radio in my 2500 hd what do i need to get???

Poonis, shoot me an E-mail this afternoon.  I get off of work arount 5-6pm EST.  I will send you some documents that will make the hook-up understandable.  Send the E-mail to:

[email protected]

Also poonis, you will need to solder three wires into the Hu harness, it will only take you a second to do.  The three wires we will need to solder too are:

1. + voltage (bigger of the two orange wires)

2. ground    (blk/wht)

3. class II data line  (smaller of the two orange wires)

Make sure you dont cut any wires off the new harness you got.  We will be removing the connector from one end, but we will be just removing the pins from the connector, not cutting them out.  The pins that we remove from one end of the connecter will slide right into the 12 pin harness.

I will give you some better info and schematics later tonight.

cbiggers, the antenna is part no. 15135178 (about $50 at GM Parts Direct)

the Nav unit has to be installed to remove the theftloc. The newest version is still ver. 3.0

The nav HU you bought is a lux model, are you installing this in a vehicle with the lux system? Check your glove box sticker for a code Y91 or Y92, if you have either one of those codes the nav unit will work in your vehicle. If you don't have one of those codes then you have a non-lux system and you will need the change the Bose amp to a lux amp and do the required wiring changes before it will work.

Firetiger,

this may not be want you want to hear but this is what I found out.

the non nav headunits can be used in both a lux or premium system. The BCM and service programming for each vehicle decide how the headunit is configured. Since the service program in your truck is setup up with the non-lux program the headunit is told that that is what it is going to be. No matter what headunit (non-nav)you stick in your truck it is always going to end up being a non-lux. The nav headunit are made specifically either a lux or non-lux. The nav units are not supported by service programming and that means that they do not rely on the BCM to decide what setup they run in. That is why so many of us have been able to install them in a vehicle that did not come with or even have the option of a lux system.

You can still use that H2 lux 6 disc player in your truck, but you will need to put the non-lux amp back in and undo the wiring changes. Your theftloc is allready removed and the headunit is allready changed to a non-lux so there is no need for any further dealer visits. If you decide to not use it and sell it, it can still be sold as a lux or non-lux unit because whoever installs it will have to have the theftloc removed and it will relearn a new VIN and also relearn the configuration for the vehicle it gets installed in.

It has been done in other trucks, so I don't believe we have come to the end of this yet. It sure worked good in my truck before the Theftloc was removed!!

Hello

PAC, PIE, BLITZSAFE, SOUNDGATE ????

Which Interface(S) do you use to incorporate a backup camera and DVD Changer into your factory Nav System? Can you control the changer with the wheel controls ?

Changers like Sony 10 Disc CD DVD DVX-100 ,PANASONIC CX-DH801U 8 DISC or Alpine DHA S680 dvd/mp3/cd changer.

I have read about the backup camera, my real concerns are incorporating and controlling the DVD changer, video and sound. I want to use the GM Nav HU as my monitor. I have not started buying parts yet I need some feed back. I am researching and talking to everyone I can. I have a 2005 Avalanche 1500 with the Bose none y91 system, no nav yet.

Thanks

my 2005 Envoy Denali has the Y91 option on the sticker in the glove box. So i'm %99 sure its going to work, You never really know though but i'm just hoping it will. Took me awhile to decide if I wanted one or not but this forum helped me decide that its a good option to add to my vehicle

Here is the best option I have found for the backup camera/external video input to a Nav System.  They even have a video showing how to install their adapter.  looks very easy.

If it is possible to copy the disc, I would assume you must use a dual layer dvd, since the disc is over 7GB? Has anyone personally done this? Also, would anyone happen to know where one might be able to find an .iso of the disc? This is, of course, for backup purposes only, as some of us may have scratched the original DVD, yet we still own the copyright, and just need to replace the data.

Apparently the Envoy Denali has a Lux amp. I just checked my glove box and it did infact say Y91. So now I guess I need the part numbers for a lux Touch Screen unit. Thanks everyone for all of your help

TNR lux touchscreen is no. 10377531

15204335 will work as well for a Y91 setup--I replaced the factory-installed INR in my '04 DXL w/ it.

    • Just did an injector/HPFP replacement on Pepper at 192,400 miles; close enough to 200K, RIGHT? (If 200K is considered life end and to me it isn't). But hey, to each his own.    Have never run a catch can on this vehicle. Back side of every valve looked like a new valve spray painted semigloss black. Port walls looked 'neat' (all a normal result of passive EGR via VVT) Zero build up even in AFM cylinders. Just color. It uses no measurable oil and never has.    At 155,000 I put her on E-85 and a borescope of the cylinders at plug change showed very clean pistons and valve faces. The replaced injector tips looked new. (It was the pump piston seal that was leaking). Oh well, have six good backups.    Still gets 28 mpg on gas (highway average) and over 20 (highway) on alky. UOA's look good and runs as good now as it did when I bought it. Better in fact.    What improvement would a Catch Can provide this motor?     And given all this I expect that IF I installed one I'd see some water/gas/oil vapor accumulation. Byproducts of normal combustion.   Having said that, IF my motor used an appreciable amount of oil I'd consider it a useful 'crutch' until I had the situation corrected OR if bore polished, until I junked it or rebuilt it to stave off repeated plug fouling.    I'm not telling you what I THINK. But what its DONE.
    • Love the look. I'm a SCSB lover myself.    Two items. 1.) A spacer changes scrub radius but this also changes when we use wheels of different offsets. A little isn't a big deal. 2.) Steel wheels, alloy wheels all have different thickness. Same effect on the stud and lug nut as a spacer. When hub centric the wheel isn't supported by the stud. It's supported by the hub. The stud just keeps it all together.
    • I had a evap sol go bad a couple weeks ago. . I replaced it.  While watching live data at the time I saw I had some cylinder 1 misfires. No MIL but on live data I could see ~50 at startup and about 70 more after an hour a drive all on cyl 1.  I also noticed that the LTFT were -5% to -15% always.  And that bank 2 is always -3% richer than bank 1. Even across all driving modes, city, highway, etc it’s always 3% richer than bank 1. So I start with the misfire. Swapped coil, plug, and plug wires from 1 to 3. No follow. I got an Injector reseal kit, pulled the D/s injector rail, swapped #1 and #3 injectors, resealed them, reinstalled and retested.  The misfire followed to 3. So I ordered and replaced all 8 injectors, spark plugs, and plug wires. Also replaced the 1 time use fuel pipes under the intake manifold.  Injectors that were in the truck since new were  Part # 12668390.  I replaced them with # 12742701 Got from RockAuto. Pretty certain they’re genuine and the correct ones. I called a friend at a parts store who told me “the 12742701 were the correct superseded part # for the originals I was replacing”. So started truck after replacing all that and it’s running -15 - -30 LTFTs. I reset the fuel trims with GDS2 and drove it for a 60 miles trip each way. There have been no changes in the LTFTs.  I checked if the HPFP was leaking into the crankcase. I removed the pvc and watched the trims. No difference.  I checked the alcohol content and it was at 10%  I’m out of ideas here. Truck seems to run great. Just always rich on the fuel trims.  Anyone with any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.  I ran an injector balance test just for the heck of it and it came back this. I’m confused.  I have gds2 and some other diag tools if anyone knows of anything I should test next.
