1/2 ton to 1 ton.......anyone?

I went against my better judgement the other day when I got some new tires for my 04 with the 17" rims. I wanted to get the Revos, but my friend who owns a couple tire stores doesnt carry Bridgestones. He said they have been selling a ton of Yokohama Geolander ATs and since they have a 30 day trial I figured I would give them a shot. Whoa nelly. They ride bad! At 35 PSI they just plain reverberate every bump in the road into the truck. I thought they were out of balance at first but since the vibes aren't consistent even when holding a constant speed this is unlikely. These are 2 ply p rated tires......just like the factory ones, they should ride smooth. Needless to say they arent gonna make the 30 days. My buddy ordered me up some of the Goodyear Wrangler AT/S that come on the Z71 Suburbans/Avalanches. He is gonna have them put on for me tomorrow so I will keep my fingures crossed and hope they ride well. They ride great on the Avalancehs and Suburbans they come on (at least the ones I have driven) so hopefully I will like them. To make a long story short, dont get Yokohamas on one of these trucks. The two just dont mesh well together. I do wish I had gotten the Revos, but it is hard to pass up getting tires for dealer cost as well as not insulting your friends. Besides, someone other than Bridgestone must make a nice riding AT tire....right?

I have the "LT" rated 265/70R17 load range "C" AT/S's on my '04 and love them! There smooth,quiet and wear great for me.

I also had LT265/75R16 load range "D" AT/S's on my '99 and loved them also,I had almost 40,000 miles on them when I got rid of the truck and the last time I saw the truck they had over 50,000 miles on them and he still had them on.

Note though that the "LT" AT/S's in that size have 3/32 MORE tread on them than the "P" rated AT/S's do,so you're starting with less tread from the get-go.It dosen't sound like much but down the road it might!

I have LT Revo's on my truck and love them. But I was kind of in your spot a little. They were the tire they were dealing on when I got them- new to the market. Then their popularity just soared.

I just put BFG Radial TA's on my 2WD. I love them, third set on my truck since I owned it.

Thanks for the input, I have LT 285s in the regular Bridgestone Dueler AT on 02 and they have been great. Any type of real hauling I do is done with that one so I figured I could get a away with having the softer ride of a p metric. My 04 sees a lot of highway miles and frequent long trips a lot more than it ever will see big loads.

Geolanders are junk.I went from the Factory Duellers to C Load LT Kelly Safari MSRs and love them.P rated tires are scarey when towing and belong on a car.

Everyone thinks that "P" rated tires ride better then "LT" tires,but on my '97 and '99 I used to switch in the winter from "P" Goodyear Wranglers (RT/S's) to "LT" Goodyear Wranglers (TD's on the '97--AT/S's on the '99,size 265/75R16) And I never noticed any ride difference,the trucks still rode nice and smooth!

So I don't buy that the "P" tires ride better,just my .02 cents though.
