what size tires?

I have a 2001HD. I'd like to put on the widest set of tires that a dually can have without the rear tires rubbing. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Well the Warden just called to let me know that my new wheels just arrived. She was wondering why there were only three of them.

I am also looking for a way to upsize my tires. My main objective is to go taller. Problem with going taller is that the section dimension of the tire also increases and what limits either of us is the center to center duall wheel spacing of 10".

You can put a spacer between the wheels and that is probably the least expensive way to go. I didn't want to go that route because when (not if) I get my first flat tire it will be in the worst of natures conditions and it will be the inner wheel. Tire disintigrated and ready to get wrapped around the axel. With the spacers you will have to remove 16 lugnuts (24 if you count the dresser nut caps) in order to remove the inside tire.

I just had wheel spacing customized an additional 1 1/2" for my two outer wheels. This should allow me to go with an LT255/85R16. 33" tall compared to the stock 30". It will effectively bring me from a 410 gear to a 373. If I were looking for width I could probably get away with LT265/75R16 on the 6 1/2" wide rim. I only went an additional 1.5" because I wanted to keep the tires within the fenders. But this should fill them up. It also didn't make much sense to increase the spacing more than that because the 6.5" rim limits the width of the tire recommended anyway.

The spare wheel is in case I take out a mail box and bend a wheel.

Don't intend to buy the new tires for a couple of months yet so won't really know how well it works out for a while.
