Where are the Toyota cheaters tonight?

Not doing a victory dance.

I still say NASCAR should not have let them in just on principle, but whats done is done.

Way to go Toyota and all the turncoat Waltrips that helped you get in.

I agree! A got a real kick out of DW making such a big deal out of Toyota's being built in Kentucky.......maybe Darrell can answer this! How many Chevy Impalas or Dodge Chargers or Ford Fusions are built in Tokyo? I can answer that ....0!

He can yap all he wants about a Kentucky plant but a portion from the sale of all north American sold Toyota's goes back to Japan. History shows us that Henry Ford was an American, Louis Chevrolet was an American, the Dodge Brothers were American and not ONLY a portion of sales of their cars stays in a North American economy....ALL OF IT DOES!

You can also find out that Toyoda...that's right Toyoda, no wrong spelling! Was started by the Father and Son, Sakici and Kiichiro Toyoda in 1867 as a steel works company and later automotive manufacturing company. It is also a safe bet then that their factories were involved in war production products, as all Japanese factories were during WW2.

Why are we North Americans so willing to give up our traditions so fast?

Real short memories. :banghead:

Yeah ole DW is falling on the sword (pun intended) for Toyota.

I mean give me a break, he sounds worse than James Carville on an election year.

Kewl Thread!!!

Some more food for thought: because they now assemble these rice burners here, a lot of people consider these cars "American", and proudly defend their purchase. So, screwing the American people out of better wages, and selling your crap here is now a good thing?

Has anyone priced comparable GM, Ford, Dodge vehicles against the foreign ones, and notice that the prices for similar vehicles are also similar? But yet, the foreign car companies pay lower wages and benefits to the people here that assemble them. Why aren't the foreign cars cheaper then? So, if you complain about the UAW, and the corporate greed on the part of the American Auto Industry, and buy a foreign vehicle assembled here, and say it's just as American, you are as ignorant as they come.

Anyone who trys to defend their buying of a Toyota or Honda by saying its built in America so its American is a tool. The owner of that company probobly doesnt even speak English.

We'll see in Atlanta what the rice rockets can do....hopefully not good. No restrictor plates baby!

not trying to pick a fight here, but whats your point....the owners of lots of companies dont speak english...and im sure that includeds major "american" automotive manufacturers

When someone tells me their honduh or Toyota was built in the States, I argue, so was my Chevy truck. Does that make it DOUBLE American!?

The reason they aren't cheaper is because Toyota and Honda are PROFITABLE and due to poor GM, Ford and Chrysler management regarding union contracts, they are losing money hand over fist, but must price their cars competitively to sell them! If the Big 3 priced their cars at a profitable price, everyone would complain that a Camry or Accord is $5k-$7k cheaper than an Impala, Fusion or Charger and A) not buy one and B) accuse the Big 3 of gouging.

It is NOT ignorance, it is Business 101.

Why if Toyota builds plants in the south mainly to avoid unions, and does pay a lower wage, and Toyota's workforce is younger and they are not paying out near the retirement money or healthcare money, why shouldn't they be cheaper to buy?

The answer is, they are selling enough cars at the current price to people who want to pay more for them because it is Japanese "quality". Why would they cut the price unless the sales dropped?

They have people convinced that their cars are worth the extra money.
