2007 SLE DIC Upgrade

Does anyone happen to know where the DIC controls are on the SLE1 or SLE2 if you have it as part of the Preferred package?

It's interesting to me that in my SLT, the controls are on the right, but this controller installs on the left. Just curious if it's because of the different trim package, or if it's because of buying the part seperately.

Standard / Base SLE-1 GMC's are not equipped with the DIC controls. The DIC stuff is available in preferred sales packages.

SLE-2 and SLT trim levels come standard with DIC functions.

Here's the corny thing. SLE-1 and SLE-2 Trim levels share the same dash. DIC equipped trucks will have controls to the LEFT of the I/P cluster.

SLT GMC trucks actually have the Denali / YUKON dash. Walk your local GMC lot and take a look. DIC controls are to the RIGHT of the cluster.

A SMART SHOPPER would buy a SLE-1 truck and upgrade it as they wish. Alot of these Preferred Packages are just a bunch of garbage, IMO.

For those people (or maybe just me :driving: ) that tried to make this too complicated, this is really simple! I was checking my truck before ordering and therefore had not disconnected any plugs, otherwise I would have worked this out sooner.

There are two connectors on the back of my 2500HD 1LT panel. One connector is 2 rows of 8 pins (16 pins total) with 10 wires and connects to the internal and external light switch module. The second connector is 1 row of 5 pins, and appears to plug into a connector just to the side of the light module. It almost looks like it is the connector for the internal light switch. However remove this connector and you will see it is just plugged into a plastic housing. This is the DIC button connector. Thanks for everyone's help and patience.

Congrats!!! Glad this worked out for you!

Great upgrade! Now then, do you know how to add the rainsense wiper control system?

Unfortunately, that would require a whole new windshield. I just had my windshield replaced, and it has a sensor that is almost part of the new windshield. It comes with a mounting bracket for the rainsense module glued to the windshield, and you have to put this crazy gel type stuff in there between the windshield and the sensors to get it to work.

I would imagine it is a real PITA to DIY.

I just ordered one from GMpartsdirect and I'm excited. I read this entire post twice to make sure it would work on my '07 NBS Silverado Work truck. Unlike all the bling I've added to my truck, this mod will actually do something worthwhile to my truck !!! :chevrolet:

dealer reps and parts and shop personnel definately need a reallity check.

i inquired about a part that adds the DIC switch to my NBS '07 and was told i would fry the computer by simply plugging it in.........success of this add-on part is posted here on this site with many guys posting of how they had no problems.

the dealer parts guy went on further to ask me for my VIN number, and when i asked why, he said it was so they could enter it in their system so they could null and void the warranty on any related issues with the computer.

Duh........like i was going to do that...........i ordered from a place up in Washington. they told me there is no problem with adding the part.

so i hope this all goes well.

I bought my DIC from the dealer in my hometown. The parts manager has been a family friend for years so we always get stuff at cost there. He was skeptical that the DIC would just plug in and work as well. There is a lot of misinformation out there, but this DIC is a simple plug and play operation.

Has anyone ever checked to see how close the fuel milage given is to actual milage?

my only other concern is "warranty"...........does installing this part which obviously works, and is simple plug-n-play have any affect on our warranties?

Spooky close. I reset both the trip odometer and fuel used every time I fill the tank. Fuel used is virtually dead-on accurate every time compared to what is put back into the tank (which is usually a full 30 gal. refill). The odometer appears to be accurate.....the rest is just simple math.

GM likely has enough common sense to not try this argument. Even a novice lawyer would own them on this one.

Don't tell me that was the same dealer you bought the truck from?

I wouldn't give it a second thought. GMPartsDirect sold clusters to replace on the old trucks that needed the odometer reprogrammed. If anything would void a warranty that would do it. This mod doesn't even come close. Plus you're replacing with oem parts so anyone at the dealership looking at it couldn't tell the difference. It's plug and play.

Hey did that mini1 guy ever get one? loooooooooool just curious....

That's a good question. Mini1, did you ever implement this mod?

I have the most basic silverado model with no options, and I can't find much detail on what this switch does. I realize it shows information on the dash - mileage, tire pressure, etc. What are the four buttons on the switch? Does this add actual functions to the truck - such as power mirrors? Thanks for the info...

I installed mine on Saturday, was very easy to install. I only needed a 10mm socket and ratchet, phillips head screwdriver, and a panel puller to install it. I've been playing with it ever since :D .

dgen, I have a basic work truck also with the work truck convience and appearance options. This switch will work on your truck just like it was a top of the line LTZ. If you look in your owners manual it will explain what each toggle does and how to use them.

INSTALLED !!!!!
