This is undoubtedly the longest thread on this forum and it is about lint! How ridiculous.

The lint issue is ridiculous,If you had it you would understand :dunno:

The part that makes me mad is that it took GM so long to even recognize there was an issue, then it took them even longer to come out with a proper solution, when the solution was there all along....just use the material from the GMT800 trucks! They never had a lint issue

When I gave the guy the TSB number and he typed it in the computer, it didnt come up for some reason and he had to search for it manually through a list of them and then he found it. Just an FYI

Did you get whatever TSB number he used, in case it was different since this is sort of a new fix?

Well, I took the truck in today.

Rich, is the fabric that you all are installing under this TSB the EXACT SAME as the fabric that they are installing in the new 2010 Silverado's?

The reason I ask is because there was some issue with it today.

Before I took the truck in, I called the service tech, Tom, who seemed very familiar with my problem. I took it in and after checking in with Tom, I had to wait a little bit. After a few minutes, maybe 15 minutes, Tom came out with an "example" to show me of what they were going to replace my current cloth with. Thing was, it looked and felt EXACTLY like was in my truck, a 2009 Silverado Crew built in Nov of '08. I told him that I didn't think it was right because what I had seen on this thread looked more like tweed. He pulled the exact TSB we are talking about here (018f) and said that this WAS the part. I told him that I wasn't so certain. I asked him what the date on the part was and he said he had no way to be certain. A "senior" tech got involved and looked at my truck, he felt that the material in my truck was JUST LIKE what they were going to install. To be honest, we all seemed sort of confused. I told Mike that I was pretty certain that what they had showed was not was called for. Tom was very nice. Tom said that we'd go ahead and order the stuff, if I didn't like it, then they wouldn't install it. I shook his hand and told him it was a deal. I went out into the lot and looked in several 2010 Silverado's which had the Ebony cloth and noticed they all had the tweed like material I had seen here and liked. I called Mike on the phone and told him that when he got a chance to look in the new trucks to see that they have the material I wanted. He said he would, I told him I thought the "sample" he showed me was from the first TSB and what was installed on my truck. I told him I had a very strong suspicion that when they received my shipment in, he'd see the material was different than what he showed. Again, he was a great and very nice.

BTW, I pointed him to this thread and told him to read it if he got a chance, so maybe he might join and be another great advisor for us.

Yes,The last set we ordered were the exact same as they are installing in the 2010 trucks (Minus the little air bag tag, since the '09s didn't have seat mounted air bags)

And your correct....the outer panels should be a tweed type fabric, not a velour type.
