Driver Door Lock Weakness

Hi all,

Some individual felt that they deserved my stereo deck more than i did on wednesday and broke into my truck. Method of entry into my 2005 silverado extened cab was by use of a power drill putting a 1/8 hole below the lock on my driver side door. I have a friend who has a 2004 GM Sierra and his truck was broken into by completely knocking in the lock. What im asking is what can be done to prevent another burglary in this manner. Granted i know if a theif wants your s**t bad enough they will get it, if all else fails ill just have the handles shaved.

Thanks In Advance,

Woody

There are companys out there that sell a steel plate that goes in behind the door handle/lock cylinder that are supposed to prevent anyone from "prying" the handle open,I don't think they would have prevented it from being drilled though.

Does anyone know what was done once this hole was drilled? Short the terminal on the back of the lock cylinder and it unlocks the door? or use a tool to manualy pry the lock to the unlock position?

Armor it all you want... they can always break the window. If a thief wants your stuff and has the opportunity, they will get it no matter what the countermeasures.

Back in the days of talking car alarms, I had a buddy that had his complete alarm system stolen out of his Vette.
