Screamin' Deal...

Hey guys...let me run this possible deal past you...and all of you voice an opinion on it.

I work at a large GM store...and in out inventory, we only have ONE Classic 07 Sierra left. New, 5 miles on it.

Here it is

2007 Sierra 1500 Classic, SLT, 2-WHEEL DRIVE, 5 foot 8 inch box, sunroof, leather, heated seats, all options. But remember, 2-wheel dirive with a 5 foot 8 inch box. Black exterior, dark grey leather. Extended Cab

Here's what I own

2006 Sierra 1500, SLE-2 options, 6-disc, Z-71 4x4, extended cab standard box (6.5 foot box), cloth

interior, Dark Green exterior, L33 310 hp V8 (all-aluminum block/heads). Typical loaded SLE2 truck

My truck has 6,100 miles on it.

I know I could trade up a year for MINIMAL $$$; last time me and a manager even talked about this idea we were in the $1000 dollar difference area. I know I could probably get it done for a trade difference of $800.

Ok...I'm losing the 4x4, but gaining sunroof, leather, heated seats, better colors, OnStar, and 3 months XM.

Is this an insane idea to even think this way???

I rarely use my 4x4; my truck is just a normal street driven vehicle.

What do you guys think?? Go for it or pass on it??

BTW, our dealership is DESPERATE for any sales....

I would stay with the Z71. I live in WI too and I wouldn't go with out a 4 wheel truck. I know the other options are nice but the fact that you have 4 wheel drive when you need it is nice.

I see you are from WI. I would say NO.

X2.

2wd pickups where it snows to me is like trying to trade a mountain bike for a unicycle and still try to accomplish the same task.

They might be ok if down south or only driven in the summer months, but I know I personally will never own a truck that isn't a 4x4.

Just out of curiosity, what is the bottom sale price for this truck without any trades? I would not trade my Z71 for it, but maybe would consider buying another one as a daily driver. In Florida, you need a 4x4 only for towing boats out of water or playing in the sand. I hate the AFM, and the 800 series leftover would be considerably cheaper. However, I bet this truck has the infamous General tires on it? What is the rear end gear ratio? I hope it isn't 3.23. Did you say the truck had all options?

BTW, I did not know they made extended cab trucks with the 5'8" bed. That bed is standard only on 1500 series crew cabs. Are you sure that truck does not have a 6.5' bed (standard short bed)?

Incidentally, a local GM dealership here in Florida has a brand new leftover '06 GMC Sierra 4X4 2500HD regular cab long bed for sale. It is an LT1 equipment truck, has black GM nerf bars, tow package, and the gas 6.0 with the 4.10 gears. Original sticker is $ 34K and change, the sale price is $ 25K and change. If somebody is looking for a truck like this, I am sure they will entertain a reasonable offer.

I agree with the rest of the guys here.

If you live in snow country it's a no brainer. Keep the 4x4.

If you lived in an area where snow wasn't frequent, the 2WD would get a little better gas mileage and have better performance.

Figure out the actual out the door cash price of the new truck that your dealership wants to sell. (OTD includes taxes, title, Dealer bogus document fee etc..) Do not factor in trades. Do factor in all rebates & or discounts.

OTD/MSRP = X (This number will be in decimal form such as... .897345372)

If X = lets say .85 or lower... then you are getting a reasonably good deal. The closer to .90 it gets, the crappier your deal gets.

If your out the door price is equal to or greater than the MSRP........ well uh...... how do you say it. Your truck must be in high demand.

sunroof, leather, heated seats, better colors, OnStar, and 3 months XM

I'd never trade for that.

Leather sucks, cold in the winter, seat heaters fix that after a couple min i know...but in the summer there's no option to stop them from makin your ass sweat, and your legs stick on to them. OnStar is garbage. XM is even worse. And who cares about a sunroof in a truck.

Stay with your 06, its a nice lookin ride, If you absolutely have to have leather, you can get heated leather seats in it from a wrecker for under a grand, and you don't have to pay to register another truck. You buy the new one, now you need to register it and possibly pay some hidden costs plus the extra you incur on the trade.

I wouldn't trade for it. I'm inclined to agree with Nytemare. If I could find a 4x4 for a decent price used out here. . .Matter of fact, gimmie your truck, and you can go ahead and buy the new one. What is 20k between friends eh?
